Aspirational Kallax.

I might be doing something right and all…

But I still have unplayed a fair few of those, like Empires of the Void 2, Merchants & Marauders, Rex, or Android. Given some time, we’ll get there.

I figured this thread could use a bump, and my shelf looks sufficiently different since my last post that I think it’s a worthy update. Reply is to my previous post:

[EDIT] Woodies on the bottom are Flick 'em Up! and all expansions, and Junk Art.

I would have a nice new pic to post here, but something went wrong and Ikea didn’t deliver my Kallax on Thursday :frowning:

2nd time’s the charm! Kallax was delivered today, so I spent the afternoon building it and organising my games:

(Plus vinyl and a tub of Lego.)

I don’t use BoardGameGeek very much, but I finally got around to entering all of my owned games into my oft-neglected user profile. It comes to 207 items as of today (Aug. 20, 2021). I should point out that 55 of those entries are expansions, and that I do have duplicates of some of the more valuable and rare titles. I did not count any of my X-Wing miniatures as expansions, otherwise it would easily top 300. :smirk:

In the process of moving to a new apartment so what better time to post my first shelfie, complete with leftover cuddly toys from the previous tenant.

Is that a first edition Fury of Dracula I see on the second shelf? You lucky SOB! I miss that game, having played it in high school. Sure, the newer editions may be more streamlined, but there was definitely some magic in that first edition box.

Very fine collection, sir.

Wow, Fortune and Glory is way bigger than I thought.

COMaestro: yes a first edition The Fury of Dracula but bought a few years ago from ebay when I was getting back into boardgames. One of my friends owned an original copy back when it was released though.

Chewy: thank you, and yes Fortune and Glory is a behemoth which I presume can only sit on top of a proper Kallax (a probable future purchase in the new year).

State of the collection at the top of 2022. Not pictured is HeroQuest, which is another great big bastard, and one I don’t plan to keep long, so it’s been given closet space while it’s in regular rotation.

The huge bin is all the paper/cardboard elements for Shadows of Brimstone and the Blasted Wastes expansion. The one above it is all the miniatures for it. Above that (yellow clips) are the minis for Aliens: Another Glorious Day in the Corps. The base box for it contains everything else for the game and its expansions. Right of those, we have Paper Dungeons partially obscured and Rhino Hero on top with its plastic container I use. The wooden box is Junk Art.

How do you feel about Tsukuyumi? I just found out last night that it was a big disappointment for Jeremy Howard due to production issues, besides being an amazing game.

I haven’t had a chance to play it yet (even two-/three-handed to learn it), but I’ve gone through the rules and remain eager to try (you may have just inspired me to this afternoon). The production isn’t great, but not awful, either. My primary complaint comes from the cardboard. It’s thick board, sure, but it lacks density and has poor lamination, so that thickness will actually be a liability in the long term. Quality of the cuts were mostly good, but a few areas were so poor I needed to get out the scalpel, and every punch was stressful since they threatened to separate with any excuse.

All in all it’s fine. The minis aren’t nice enough to paint IMO, but they’re colour-coded and mostly pretty distinct on their own. No major warping of the cardstock to report, paper elements are fine. It was also cheap for what was included so I’m hard pressed to really complain, to be honest. If I compare what I got in HeroQuest for double the price it’s almost comical how generous it looks.

The ‘Big Box’ shelf

Wow, Brian Boru is way bigger than I imagined it. Somehow I thought it would be a smaller box.

I feel like that’s a Peer Sylvester specialty; “a big game in a small package in a medium-sized box”

Eh, The King is Dead box is pretty small. Don’t really know any of his other games, though.

Polynesia is a normal sized box… just a bit flatter like Brass B. Probably the exact same size as Brian Boru which I would love to try sometime.

That’s quite a lot of Power Grid!

Did you know I love Power Grid?

I’ve got all the easily available Maps, plus new Power Plants and the stock markets. I’ve played about 50% of it.
