It is raining. Not much, but there’ll be over a millimetre in the gauges by 9 AM. And 10–30mm of rain is predicted for later today.

A lot of people are still in trouble further north, but just here it’s over for now.

Went to a local Garden Glow with some friends last night. Very pretty walk.

I just knew it was Santa holding up the queue at the petrol station.

I felt his presence.

Interesting, I have never seen a fuel pump from overseas. Three nozzles? One is diesel, one is unleaded. So, what is the third nozzle for?

I can’t read it from the photo but I guess it will be “Super Unleaded” or “Premium Unleaded”, which has higher octane and lower ethanol content than regular unleaded fuel.

Yes, it’s the premium unleaded.

It’s a British petrol station, so obviously the third nozzle is tea for the driver

Spent a couple nights with my family in San Antonio. I lived there for 6 years (while doing my BA and MA) so it’s always nice to make it back.

My husband who had maybe never been to Texas before the first time I dragged him to my family’s thought these cacti growing on a roof was about the most Texas thing imaginable.

The Christmas lights on the River Walk are one of my favorite things in the world.

We made the most of some rare sunshine yesterday by going for a walk up Ilkley Moor. It was very wet underfoot:

Fortunately I remembered my hat

Nature is truly amazing. The way that landscape is seemingly divided by perfectly straight white lines makes it look as though it was a collage.

I’m quite pleased with my new door knocker.

After the success of my knockers, I’ve finally got around to framing this housewarming present from friends. I think it will be educational for the kids.

How many of those are real places?

Probably all of them! These are also real:

  • Lord Hereford’s knob (Wales)
  • Brown Willie (Cornwall)
  • Middle Wallop (Hampshire)
  • Over Wallop (also Hampshire)
  • Nether Wallop (…still Hampshire)
  • Wetwang (Yorkshire)
  • Blubberhouses (Yorkshire…)
  • Buttertubs (…Yorkshire…)

There is also a street in York called Whip-ma-whop-ma-gate :person_shrugging:
