A game that looked like it would be a by-the-numbers USSR dismantling of the US for most of the game somehow got all turned upside-down and ended with a USSR Defcon loss in Turn 10.

Update from my game vs @chrislear : We got an interesting dilemma on T4 AR7. I played Blockade for the event as USSR (I previously had played Missile Envy, so I liked the odds), with West-Germany at 8/4 and only Italy not in USSR-control in the other battlegrounds.
Turned out my dear opponent had ABM-Treaty in hand. Chris decided not to give it up, handing me WG, and couping me in South America with ABM. Wondering what you would’ve done: give up WG and coup or save WG to not risk Europe control on a later point.

Sounds like you did pretty well! Nice work. Obviously @Benkyo did better, but somehow that’s to be expected.
If you want to put yourself in my shoes, here are some other considerations: Europe scoring is in the discard pile, and both America scorings are in the deck. I’m facing possible USSR SA domination now, or possible Europe domination later. The score is level, but the map looks all red. Giving up 8 influence in West Germany seems insane, but I sort of ended up deciding it was the lesser of two evils. The previous AR @qwertysoldier hit me with Missile Envy and I had to decide whether to give him ABM Treaty or Muslim Revolution, knowing almost for certain that Blockade was coming. That wasn’t an easy decision either, because the Muslims kicked me out of the Middle East almost completely. The sad truth is that I think I’m being outplayed.
