And my overlap with 2019-Quinns: Modern Art, Flamme Rouge, Whitehall Mystery, Mysterium, Deception: Murder in Hong Kong, Scrabble, Ghost Stories, Robo Rally, Captain Sonar, Mafia de Cuba, The Resistance: Avalon, Welcome + Back to the Dungeon, Parade, Love Letter, Railroad Ink Red, Jaipur.
So my overlap with 2022-Tom is 5/92ish or 5%; with 2020-Matt, 7/59 or 12%; with 2019-Quinns, 17/137 or 12%.
Of those, the following I would not have had at the time of the video release
The Quacks of Quedlinburg
Arctic Scavengers (I think it was this video that prompted me to go check for cheap, used copies on the BGG market, which resulted in me buying it)
Tigris & Euphrates
Gloomhaven
Mascarade
Citadels
Burgle Bros
Paperback
Machi Koro

Things I donāt have in Mattās 2020 collection, and why
Hey, Thatās My Fish ā should probably get at some point, to have for family game nights.
Arkham Horror card game ā I bought into Lord of the Rings LCG instead, which is more inline with my tastes. Iām sure AHLCG is the better game (it came later and benefits from lessons-learned), but I like the Middle-Earth setting
Two Rooms and a Boom P&P ā have the files, havenāt printed yet. When am I going to get 20 people together to play it? Not for a long time
Pandemicexpansions ā I think Pandemic is fine. Itās not great and I donāt know how much more Pandemic I need. I think I prefer the dice game more than the original. I also have Fall of Rome, which I also prefer
Silk ā would definitely play, given the option. But it looks too abstract and cutthroat
Taverns of Tiefenthal ā waffled between this and Quacks. Opted for Quacks. Would play Taverns and would possibly change my mind, but my partner likes the luck-fest of Quacks
Pandemic Legacy Season 2 ā I actually have Season 0 waiting to get started as a 2-player experience with my partner and I.
V-Commandos ā this is on my watch list. Itās pretty pricey and hard to come by. Iām hoping the next Kickstarter fulfillment will improve secondary market availability
Keyforge ā already have too many 2-player games, donāt need a not-collectable-collectable game.
unknown brown case ā I prefer known brown cases
BƤrenpark ā 1) bears are terrifying 2) too thinky for a polyomino game
unknown plastic bag to the right of BƤrenpark ā prefer cloth or canvas bags
Keyflower ā would need to play it first. I got the impression a long time ago that I donāt need any of the Key series
Forbidden Stars ā out-of-print and overpriced. Itās also being redeveloped without the GW license
Kemet ā recently got Kemet Blood & Sand
Imperial Assault ā on my watchlist, hoping to pick up someoneās used collection for a good price

So I have a lot of overlap. To be fair, a bunch of that overlap is due to these gentlemen.
So for Tom - 22/93 (24%), Matt - 22/59 (37%), and Quinns - 42/137 (30%)
What I buy: cheap, small boxes that are easy to justify and fit on the shelf
What I play: 45 minutes or less with low rules overhead, based on the tolerance of the others in my household. Or strong solos.
What I like: Generally 3-3.5 BGG complexity games, euro/conflict hybrids that require about 5 games to fully grok.
So yeah, weāll give Pipeline a chance. Even if it takes some time to give it that chance
Overlap with Tom: 19/101 (19%)
Overlap with Matt: 14/60 (23%)
Overlap with Quinns: 33/138 (24%)
Iām especially surprised that I have a similar overlap with Matt to the other two, as Iām not often excited about the things he seems excited about.
Iām really looking forward to the Ava Collection! Assuming itāll make an appearance in 2023, and itāll be a long one as Ava has 344 games owned on BGG.
And my secret 38th Quinnās game is Netrunner which they didnāt mention in the video but I think have retrospectively added to the post listing all his games on their website.
What are your best stupid games for stupid people?
Sorry I botched it, I misquoted Quinnās from Tomās collection video.
What he actually says is āall youāre punchup games are too smart, whereās your game for idiotsā.
If Inis, Cosmic Envounter, Games of Thrones,
Root, Pax Pamir, Oath and Twilight Emperium are all too smart or weird; what is your punchup game for idiots?
Tom suggests 878 Vikings and Quinnās suggests Kemet.
Smallworld is my usual recommendation as a Risk-killer, but itās not great (just better than Risk, which is saying nothing of value whatsoever).
The standard trilogy of Kemet, Inis, and Cyclades are all good recommendations, although I think Inis might be too well-balanced for āidiotsā⦠but theyāre all very, very good.
Other than that⦠Battle for Rokugan is tight and tiny and pretty straight-forward, Iāve heard good things about the new Dune Conquest but havenāt tried it yet (although I do own it), and Tyrants of the Underdark could be worth a consideration as long as youāre okay with some deck-building in your punching.
To a first approximation, nobodyās played War of the Nine Realms. I think this is a shame. Itās a relatively quick troops-on-a-map game that effectively penalises turtling.
(Disclaimer: I demo for Wotan Games, the publisher.)
