Yeah I get that impression from the looks of it. Let’s see!
I feel like Everdell is a cross between Lords of Waterdeep and 7 Wonders, with a more broadly appealing theme and charming art
I agree with your assessment. I have just the base game myself and it has only been played three times so far (two of them solo), but I have enjoyed each play. However, I find myself considering the Complete Box here, as I know I could sell my base copy and recoup some of my losses on it (Think I got it on sale for $50, and believe I could get $20-25 for it). $200 (+ shipping) for everything is a hell of a deal.
I need to think on this. Everdell is a game I would like to play more often, and I could see some expansions being desirable after a while to add some variety. I probably don’t need Everything™, but when you can get it for the cost of about three of the expansions, why not?
That’s what I said when I went for the Spirit Island all in pledge.
Obviously I still have my original German SI copy
But that game has seen many more than 3 plays…
A friend from my Game Group is selling her base game now and bidding for the box. If anything, it will pay for her delivery costs and some.
It’s not clear to me but I don’t think it introduces coop. It sounds like it’s a bot that makes 2 player a bit livelier and less predictable and can also be used for solo play, but one of the three “players” still wins - human or bot. I might be wrong.
It appears you are correct. My ability to skim text seems to have failed. The Nighweave automated opponent is there to liven up a 2-player game or to give a solo opponent to compete against.
I was watching that. Think I’m going to jump in for $1 and grab C&C 2nd in the PM.
This is an example of a ridiculously priced triple digit KS HOWEVER
1.) I love Stellaris the video game. The expansions made it even better.
2.) A game designed to run for 2 hours at least. Produced by Academy Games.
Maybe this is one of those I will wait for a backer’s regret and take it off them to ease their misery.
but no rulebook and a ridiculously risky premise of marrying “Oath style” (still not here) legacy with Twilight Imperium and I could never grok the computer game but I sure looked closely…
I haven’t played anything from Academy Games. can they pull it off?
I only have tangential experience with Academy Games (via 878 Vikings). I feel as though this is a particularly large reach for them.
Definitely a game I’ll be watching… the retail release and critical reception.
Looking at https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/academygames/created the only one I’ve looked hard at was Reality Shift, and it looked too roll-and-move to be a good racing game.
They’re okay, but this kickstarter has been pretty misguided on a bunch of levels. No stretch goals for the already expensive base pledge, there’s not much in the upgrade but the stretch goals, there’s no rules, playthrough videos or TTS/Tabletopia demo, they clearly weren’t prepared for the amount of interest, etc.
I’ll check out a playthrough at some point to see if I think it’d be interesting but so far I’m not seeing why I’d buy into this over Eclipse or Twilight Imperium (yes yes, short playing time. I don’t really care.) or my copy of Petersen Games’ Hyperspace that is coming…eventually.
It reminds me of Europa Universalis – similarly a boardgamification of a computer game series, similarly hyuuuge and complex with a long playing time, etc. I looked at the EU prototype at Essen 2019. And when this happens to me I’m reminded also that I sold Twilight Imperium 3rd because I didn’t play it often enough; I played Eclipse once at a games convention and didn’t love it the way a lot of people seem to; I have Star Trek Ascendancy and I want to play that a bit more before I start buying more 4X games.
OMG, I saw that and walked away quickly. It’s a huge sprawling cash-in for computer gamers who don’t usually play boardgames. I am still not convinced that anything good ever comes out of boardgamification of computer games. Computer games should stay on the computer and neither become boardgames nor movies (Uwe Boll says hi!)…
PS: someone is making a boardgame of Slay the Spire.
I’m going to be watching this with interest, if only because I cannot imagine it being anything except Slay the Spire plus upkeep/fiddle/tedium. No. No no no.
I still have aversions on video game IP based board games. Completely skipped the Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis games. Never knew the publisher on those and I dont think Paradox fully understood the industry yet.
I have Guards of Atlantis and Successors coming up whenever. I still havent figured out how to fit those in…
I don’t even know that I want 4X boardgaming that badly - I much prefer coops.
I broke down and pledged for the Complete Collection in the latest Everdell Kickstarter. While I have the base game, I don’t have anything else, so it seems to be a really good value.
Same here, but minus having already the base game. It is a very good deal, even with the shipping on top.
