Why would Kickstarter do something about it? More sales means more cut for them
Being tempted by Vampire Lords. For one, itâs actually a crowdfunded project, the initial game design being one of the designerâs masterâs thesis project. So first time designers, who have spent a long time refining the design to get it to its present state. This can not get made without crowdfunding (or finding a publisher, I suppose).
For another, the art is gorgeous! Weronika knocked it out of the park!
Gameplay appears to be deck-builder mixed with area control, and Tyrants of the Underdark has been brought up as a comparison on BGG, which is a game I like. However, this game has some asymmetrical powers depending on your vampire lord, so that could be exciting.
Downsides are the cost if you want the core game, expansion, and the minis (which look really nice in their design stage, anyway), and the estimated delivery date of Spring 2027.
Oh well, I have a few more days to decide.
I canât resist this: The Big Deal: Raymond Chandler/Philip Marlowe Playing Cards.
I think @SteveB_uk will want a gander at that, too.
Edit: Cloudflare now back up.
Oh thatâs cool. Excellent intro video. Canât decide if I want the colour or monochrome deck.
I am currently pledged for the Master Set fix pack. Depending on how the campaign goes after the funding period, I may addon the Grand Tour if they open that up during the pledge manager phase.
Just scrolled through Terra Mystica - looks like it is on its last day.
A lot of that campaign didnât look right. The big emblazoned ânot going to retailâ at the head of the campaign and then a bunch of meaningless MSRP numbers listed to make the pledges look like a great deal. The high prices, but then including like 50 faction boards rather than using tiles that inlay on the boards to capture unique faction information. Rolling into a cost of $120+ shipping for just the core experience, and needing to fork out $270 to get the expansions⌠expansions should be a given in a deluxe reunion tour of a game box.
Oh, and the âmodular boardâ which is a collection of individual terrain tiles. Nobody got time to set that up, let alone the extra effort that would go into designing something worth playing. Anyone whoâs labored over a Memoir 44 map will know what a headache that will be, especially when every single hex needs to be put down, not just a few key ones. Why on earth wouldnât they make something like Gaia Project or Clans of Caledonia that provide plenty of variability without that much work?
Anyway, I really want to try Age of Innovation too before buying even a cheap copy of Terra Mystica.
Well, I succumbed to the darkness. I backed Vampire Lords.
Indonesia still has not come in at Gamenerdz. Store itself says no update but BGG forums say it is on such and such a boat that will land in Florida on Dec 19. It will come.
Estimate for UK would be January. Ship ports at Rotterdam at the end of Dec.
Recently heard it had reached VFI Asia (I think in China). I donât expect any further updates or notifications until I get one saying it has been sent, on the same day it arrives.
The shipping logistics probably got extra difficult due to Jakarta recently becoming the largest* cityâ in the worldâĄ

I was surprised to see a solo game collaboration between Liz Davidson and David Thompson which wasnât Night WItches pop up on gamefoundâŚ

Salt & Pepper Games previously released Resist! and Witchcraft! co-designed by Thompson, so Iâm definitely curious about another thematic solo title with some of that designer/publisher overlap.
