Baseball, Cricket, Polo, Football, American Football, Rugby, Hockey, Ugg-tect…
There seem to be a lot of games already.

If you do historical fencing, you get to hit people… just saying
Is that really a game though?
Depending on the group, Egyptian Ratscrew can be primarily about hitting things really, really, hard–namely, the table and other players’ brittle finger bones.
There’s always Ice Hockey – from what I’ve seen on TV that seems to be “hitting things, disguised by the pasted-on themes of ice-skating and moving a puck around”.
Already mentioned hockey. Doesn’t matter if it’s ice or field or street, they’re all played the same.
You can make it into a game as soon as you make it a competition…
Anyone backed Arcs here? Any news on the game? I didn’t, that’s why I’m asking
i backed it. there was a somewhat recent progress update. i think they were getting close to production?
With Threads of Fate arriving yesterday, I am currently waiting for…
Pies, Bacon, Mori and Lunar (should be soon)
Guards of Atlantis 2 (October I think, although it is going to a friend’s house)
The Old King’s Crown (late 2024?)
Tricktakers and Haggis (mid/ late 2024?)
I’m not sure if I’ve forgotten one
I might get Sol: Last Days of the Star next week or the next. Fingers crossed. That’s the one I’m so hyped about.
I got “shipping this week or next” notifications for 3 Kickstarters…
Which is bad, because I won’t be here and I will have to once again tackle the “try to delay shipping until I return” dance. How do these campaigns know when it will be maximally bad to ship stuff to me?
This is one of the major reasons I am sick of crowdfunding. As I’ve been good and backed far less, this problem is hopefully trailing away…
I’m having a grand time waiting for Pueblo. Every two months there’s an update about how the games are going to go onto a boat very shortly.
I’ve got an email about it, and the possibility of it shipping sometime in the new few weeks.
I know this pain - I had like four packages arrive while I was away for Christmas. Fortunately I now live in a house with low area foot traffic and two other people (my parents), at least one of whom is often home if I am not (and vice versa).
Major reveal incoming…
I backed Primal: The Awakening a long time ago with an expected March 2022 delivery. The game was fun in TTS, I’ve been really excited about it arriving and plotting how to paint the reasonable amount of minis for superior immersion on game play. I’ll be charged shipping this week and expect to get the game sometime this summer. I think the Red Sea trouble will be pushing it back from the last guess of March delivery. Kicker here is that my wife is pregnant and our first is due in April. So the 2 year delay suggests I’ll have to wait even more years before playing for the first time irl ffs. Good job it’s the last KS I backed. Plus side is it’s pretty much 3 years since I backed a game.
Congratulations
I have just one more KS to arrive to me, Arydia: The Paths we Dare Tread. Seems like the game will arrive on Summer 24, and I also ordered Xia along with it (same creator). I must admit that they have taken their good time to develop (two years or so?), by far the longest wait I have had on a boardgame from crowdfunding.
I hardly remember much about it, and I think my latest purchase, Destinies, sort of covers that kind of game. So now I am more than anything interested in the minis it will bring, and Xia plus expansions (which is already published, but I guess it will come along with Arydia).
And then, that’s me done with crowdfunding. I have had a couple of good games out of it (Witcher: Old World or Flamecraft come to mind), but in general, I am a bit disenchanted from it. I think these days I’d rather play a game before buying it. From my latest games played during the last year or so, only Obsession and perhaps Wayfarers of the South Tigris have made enough of an impact to entice me to buy them.
I believe I only have Through the Desert backed right now, though there will be a crowdfunding project for another Unmatched Adventures set later this year, so that’s almost certainly an inst-back for me.
And another one.
My currently “incoming soon” will go quite a way towards reducing the stack of “preorders”
Still hoping the actual “last mile” shipping notifications will not arrive before next week because if I am quick that will mean I can just delay them for a week and will have fun getting packages when I return. Normally my father would be in the house but he is visiting my sister and I am not sure when he will return.
After those packages, I still have another 15 or so campaigns waiting to get to me. Some small stuff like expansions or … lids… but also some pretty big ones. Some that should have been here last year. But I did back stuff until around the middle of last year. And I don’t think I will stop completely. Every once in a while there are games that I think I will not be able to get otherwise that I decide I really want. I can’t predict those. But more and more I’ve been able to convince myself that I can either wait for retail or don’t need another game of that type. It certainly helps that I’ve been doing this for a while now.One of those that falls under the “otherwise unavailable and definitel interesting to me” was “Defenders of the Wild”. Games I wouldn’t do crowdfunding for now include Unconscious Mind and Arcs as I am sure they’ll be available through various channels.
