The Crowdfunding Thread

It seems like it’s the Black Friday of kickstarter launches.

I saw one where they’d cancelled and chose to relaunch today, probably on the advice of some experts and the same expertise that others had used.

Update regarding Lords of Vegas:
“We don’t know yet. We won’t get a printing schedule until sometime after all samples are sent to us and approved. But one thing is clear now: we’re not getting them in 2023.”

Zero surprise. As ships go, Lone Shark seems to be well entrenched on the “loose” end of things. Now that I’ve met AllPlay everyone seems even worse by comparison.

Also, Ezra & Nehemiah from Garphill / Shem Phillips. I’m lost as to what trilogy we are on now? Hadrian’s Wall, Temple of Jerusalem, is South Tigris all done or part of this or… ?

Not going to back it but it’s a game I’ll watch for eventual release.

Backed Through the Desert. It’s the only one of the three that I actually want, and I’m now past the point of buying things just because they are a good deal.

It’s one I can get at retail

This is especially poignant for me as AllPlay’s headquarters is about 10 miles from me (that’s about 5.36819e-5 light-seconds in metric). Supporting them not only feels great because they have great products in reasonably-sized boxes in exchange for a reasonable number of dollar-bucks, but they’re also a local business!

Sadly, I’ll have to skip this current crowdfunding because I already own Camel Go Through the Desert. Well, to be more specific, I own <checks notes> Through the Sausage.

I’ve heard great things as well. Based in UK so shipping is only £9!

I’ll probably wait for retail though

Just saw this. For us Spanish speakers this could be the Mitsubishi Pajero of boardgames…

mr-deux becomes „merde“ more or less. I wouldn’t have noticed myself but a friend who owned one told me. The shit car apparently didn’t sell well in France.

Well, I must admit that Cascadia was already causing the odd smirk a couple of years back. In Spain (at least) both Pajero and Cascadero are slang (but very accepted widespread) for “self-loving” persons, or in a more cultured way, onanists.
More bluntly speaking, the Pajero in Spain is a Montero (another word for Ranger) because after a bit of investigation they thought Mitsubishi Wanker was not going to sell very well, somehow.

I think I remember reading about this before.

International marketing must be terrible hard.

And hilarious.

I do trust these new games will be playable solo!

I once saw there’s a book in the IKEA museum of failed names, as they check for these things.

That’s why all the names are Swedish sounding nonsense

You guys like trick taking and train games right?

And it’s a UK publisher so shipping isn’t crazy for me!!

Almost 9 years ago I playtested a game in a pub and thoroughly enjoyed it, to the extent I kept the prototype copy with no art packaged in a sandwich bag when I moved house. And now I’m happy to say the people behind it have finally got a publisher, or are self publishing, but either way it’s a must back for me.
It’s a cooperative hand builder game, really simple but loads of fun, and you can check it out here: Exactly As Planned by No Sharks - Gamefound

Ooh, deluxe edition. I wanted that, but finances could not justify the extra cost.
