It really shouldn’t be too hard to soloify, from the look of it. Having only a single goal (“most Fame”) is restrictive, but “achieve X Fame in Y turns” should be viable.

My friend informed me that my copy of Endeavor: Age of Expansion arrived. No news from the other one who ordered the Root expansion for us.
Possible. I’ve never considered converting…
Got a shipment notification from Funagain, was trying to parse which of my Kickstarters might be shipping. Decided ultimately that it must be Aeon’s End: Outcasts, because they were talking about shipping and are generally very efficient and quick turnaround. The next day, got an email from the pledge manager for Maximum Apocalypse confirming that had shipped. That Kickstarter hasn’t even updated recently. Huh. Guess I’ll probably have Outcasts shipping soon too.
That’s going to hurt just a bit when it arrives, because if things were more normal I would have been playing 20-30 demo games of it at Essen this year. Perhaps I will play many, many solo games that weekend instead.
Root Underworld finally arrived! Surprised how much stuff there was. Ended up loading everything for a standard game into the core box (inc. all factions), and then all variant stuff into the underworld box (the tokens that are never used, the spare dice, the second deck of cards, the mountain & lake stuff, the resin markers, the bots, and the second vagabond -because who wants two vagabonds anyhow?).
When they finally release an all in one box I imagine it’s going to be quite big!
I stuffed all my Root stuff into Base + Underworld; It was a tight fit still. Clockwork and Riverfolk boxes are stored away (probably with sprues and definitely with the original faction boards).
I don’t know what I’m going to do when my neoprene map boards arrive (which I didn’t opt for in the Kickstarter but definitely should have)
For now, I’m in for Merchants of the Dark Road (standard edition). I’ve really enjoyed Brian Suhre’s other game Coldwater Crown; I picked up Freshwater Fly but haven’t gotten it played yet.
And there’s a rondel!
Though I may end up waiting for retail… I guess we’ll see how the campaign goes
Interesting. Brian Suhre also did Fresh Waterfly, which is a good Euro game, in my books.
I’m very tempted. Just watched Rahdo’s Final Thoughts, and while my tastes don’t often line up with his, I do appreciate that he is always concerned about how the game plays at 2. Anyways, he did say it worked great at 2 playing with Jenn, and that the previous version he play tested worked really well at 4.
That Deluxe edition is mega sexy, but those coins are almost the price of the game!!! They’re very fancy coins, but still…
Interesting. I like Coldwater Crown much more than I expected to as someone who cares nothing about fishing and doesn’t generally favour Euros. But the glimpses I got of MDR during the BGG competition didn’t seem to say much of interest. Maybe I should take another look…
Btw what are the tokens with the mole/crow faces with VP wreaths around them? They’re not VP markers or vagabond relationship markers - but look like a hybrid of both(?). I can’t see anything on any of the playerboards to describe them. I wish the expansion had a component list in the manual! I know I’m probably being dim, but I can’t figure it out.
For now I’ve stored them as relationship tokens for the second vagabond, but they’re obviously not, seeing how angry people are over the lack of tokens for the second vagabond.
Oh dang, I figured it out because I was confused too… let me grab my boxes o’Root and see if it jogs my memory.
@KIR2, I’m pretty sure they are relationship markers for Vagabond2; not that other Vagabond2 relationship markers have the wreaths… I wish they would have stayed consistent.
Monolith reached out to confirm my refund for Conan will be processed shortly. I still have a bad taste in my mouth over ditching this beloved game and IP, but no regrets about the decision.
I’m in for a double order of Pitch & Plakks. I adore Pitchcar, but don’t have the space for it. This looks like a reasonable alternative and frankly, I kind of think I’ll end up liking it more. The double order (2x base pieces + 2x expansion sets) is intended for myself and two of my nephews.
Ooh, very tempting (I sold PitchCar because I didn’t play it often enough, and it’s one of the few game sales I slightly regret), but I’d really want to try it out before buying.
Based on what I’m seeing, it looks like it’ll go to retail (likely boutique toy shops, I’d wager), but at a higher MSRP. Might take a slight hit waiting (shipping takes a lot out of the savings), but I’d expect a demo wouldn’t be out of the question somewhere/somewhen.
I assume you know about Pitch Car Mini
I love Pitch Car, the golf game looks brilliant though and, for a new KS not stupidly expensive
Yeah, Pitchcar mini just feels like too much of a compromise, though.
Ah. I enjoyed it when I played it
