To be fair, the golf game is a compromise too, but in this case I think a better one since the game seems as conducive to short games as much as afternoons on the carpet (for the kids). In my case I think those short sessions will make for more table-time (with tourneys for big afternoon BBQ games).
Cool
Tbh, Pitch Car doesnāt get on our table as much as Iād like. Iām really keen to have a big tournament at a party but the table is always full of food.
Iāve just backed the Whatnot Cabinet as the theme will directly appeal to my wife (and daughter too judging by the amount of ātreasuresā she gathers everytime we take a walk!)
Ooh, I have Herbaceous on my wishlist, Whatnot looks great.
I received my copy of Root: Upgrade kit and Root: Underworld expansion from my friend.
Also got the 200 Iron Clays. Overpriced but Im fine with it.
Tis a good day!
Whatās in the upgrade kit?
New boards for every faction and rulebook to reflect the balance changes in the new edition.
I went for the print and sellotape option
Noice. Thats very economical. Im just lazy!
Iāve ordered the 400 chip set as an impulse buy last week. I donāt know why I need that many. And who ever used 2k chips?! I likely wonāt. But yāknow. MAYBE I will one day.
I have the 400 chip set. Most of the games listed as ācompatibleā with the 400 set (and not smaller sets) are almost all 18xx (or 18xx adjacent) games, but it does say Automobile, Imperial, Indonesia, and Monopoly!
I figured there would come a TIME when they would come into their own. And at the very least, it comes with more 1s and 5s, so less need for converting change.
I do now have two of the original (100?) sets, plus the sets with both games of Brass though. Might sell some of them on or gift them to friends I guess. This is my Pillbox⢠moment!
How big is the 400 box? Is it unwieldy?
This is pillbox youāre talking to: I bought the 400 Chest (in āRosewoodā)
Itās heavy. Each drawer is heavy.
I also have 2 copies of chips from the Brass Deluxe games and I opted to get the āfill outā sets that fill up the remaining space in those.
I thought about 400 but it was too rich for my blood. I didnāt expect that I would get into Splotter until recently. But FCM should be fine, and Iām not going into 18xx in the near and far future. And Imperial 2030ās paper money is pretty good quality, feels like those modern plastic money, rather than paper. So, 200 was enough as I had issues playing with Modern Art and other economic games like Acquire and Chicago Express
EDIT: mine is just the simple cardboard container
⦠Wow. Thatās something! The drawers were too much for me, and werenāt available in the PM anyhow. Iāll settle for cardboard.
I really want to back Whatnot Cabinet. Itās just a bit too pricey for me. Iām sure Iāll live to regret my decision and likely end up picking it up second hand for more (but maybe not)
Yeah, the drawers were a bit much. I only went for the 100, and kind of wish Iād nabbed the 200. I donāt realistically have a reason given the games we play, and the number of players.
Still, would be nice to have more than 10 x 10ās, lol.
Thatās been part of the issue for me in terms of the value proposition. The box was easy, just couldnāt afford that. But the 100 set seemed just on the edge of insufficient, and the 200 just teetered on excessive⦠and I ended up waffling on the whole thing. If I get another opportunity Iād still struggle! But the desire factor is HIGH.
Yeah, Iron Clays showed up on the Steampunk Rally Fusion pledge manager, and they are very nice⦠but.
I heard about this and suddenly wish I kept a dollar in at least. And still, butā¦
