The Crowdfunding Thread

In my experience, access points are only very new in the UK. We’ve had problems both with something we bought and with dropping something off in one because the collection hadn’t been and it was full.

Thought of you when I saw this earlier today. (Also thought I was glad I decided not to back it in the end, as I was in two minds when it was kickstarting…)

My package arrived and quite early in the day, too. Can’t wait to try and convince my partner to give the cooperative mode a go (that would be the Crisis module)

One thing I have to say in favor of UPS: this is the same delivery person every time and has been for a while. So possibly they are not terrible for their drivers? I would like to think that.

Woke up to find Zoo Vadis nearly done, so the FOMO got to me. Normally, just being a Knizia would be good enough to back, the only reason I held off was because it involved negotiation, which doesn’t seem to work well for my group. Not entirely sure why, it’s not that we’re hyper competitive (we play a lot of co-ops).

Just backed Sail, Chomp, Couture, and Mind Space.

Part of me is convinced they will be mediocre. But the possibility that one or two of them are not, for that price and size, was just too tempting. The art is fab.

Also, Lords of Vegas is back up. It’s much better now; 65 for Base + Up, another 35 for the two new expansions. I mean, that sounds pretty reasonable. They still want close to $30 to ship the whole thing. I’ll probably end up backing after waffling for a few days. But I also wonder if I just wait if I’ll be able to get the whole thing for less than $130 at retail. You never can tell, I saved a boatload by doing Empyreal retail but conversely did pretty well with Kemet 2e on kickstarter.

Another niggling feeling; this lone shark games outfit seems like the kind of place where it’ll end up cheaper at retail.

FWIW, they keep selling out of the entire print run, hence doing some of this crowdfunding to begin with. So I wouldn’t guarantee you will have a crack at it at retail.

(This is a big reason I personally usually stick to crowdfunding.)

Yeah. I backed Lords of Vegas.

Estimating I might save $10-20 by waiting but I just didn’t want to deal with the future alerts and preorders and shipping thresholds and release dates.

And SUSD reviewing it, giving it 0.3 miliseconds on any shop shelf…

I’m curious about a SUSD effect on lords of Vegas. The review was so long ago now, will it still trigger a rush?

I ended up backing because I don’t have Up. Was now or never :pensive:

I think you can buy the old Up for $5 as part of the campaign, if you already have the base game.

I’m tempted to throw them $10 to see if I can access old Up

EDIT: It’s $5 on their site right now, but US/Canada only delivery

Yep that’s why I backed. Last chance to get it on its own

I bought three copies at $5 each before Christmas. I had them shipped over via a third-party company that imports US-only merch to the UK. Cost £66 all-in, and I sold the two extra for ~£45 each. They’re still $5 on the Loneshark website. You’re bound to find a few buyers of the old UP! expansion even with the Kickstarter in progress.

I’ve made up my own copy so I’m not hugely desperate to jump through many hoops to get one. I would be looking at that option if not though.

Last Friday, Frosthaven was at 7% of US backers remaining to get their games. I still don’t have a tracking number for my shipment. I’m beginning to think I will be the last US shipment. My husband is beginning to think we will never get ours.

Even if it ships soon, we’ll have to delay playing for probably another month. We’ve only got this weekend and next before my parents and niece arrive for a visit.

Same with my copy of Frosthaven. Europe though. I think mine is behind because I ordered the insert and they didn‘t have enough of those initially?

As long as it arrives at some point.

I have a Frosthaven tracking number! I guess the kickstarter gods were just waiting for me to whine. It’s supposed to arrive Thursday. That means we’ll hopefully get a week of organizing everything and playing with it before my family arrives for a week.

My copy is I think everything new - insert, reusable stickers, envelope x (supposedly the biggest delay on US shipments), both coins, whatever.

Andrew is a fantastic sculpter, he’s also done a bunch of models based on medieval marginalia as well. I’ve just painted up some of his figures… should go post them on the appropriate thread.

I have no use for those. I am tempted, because Bosch.
