I have no idea. Sorry about that
And yesterday I had the best of intentions to back fewer campaigns. How could I have forgotten the most important campaign of all? (Spirit Island: Nature Incarnate - BackerKit /c)
Oops.
Aw, damn it allā¦
Corvus Belli (makers of the fantastic Infinity wargame and the⦠okay-ish⦠Infinity - Defiance board game and the good-but-maybe-not-great Aristeia sportsball game) has released a new KS for a fantasy-themed dungeon crawler which I think can only be described as Descent-esque.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/corvusbelli/warcrow-adventures
I wonāt be backing it because gosh $240CAD and then another $75CAD for shipping is way, way out of my budget currently, but Corvus Belli is pretty consistent with their designs. Even Defiance I think might be legit great, but Iāve never gotten past the first scenario (which I have now played 3 separate times), and the learning curve is fundamentally vertical (a trait shared by Infinity the wargame, granted, but Aristeia was a lot more approachable).
Still. Great models, and maybe an interesting evolution of the Journeys in Middle-Earth and Descent 3rd Ed app-driven gameplay? Or, at the very least, a different company taking a stab at it?
Anyhoo.
It is apparently Crowdfunding Launch day
I have also been eyeing Trick Shot (Second edition) by Wolffdesigna - Gamefound which launched today, in addition to the Spirit Island expansion (which I think Iām going to skip as I havenāt even touched any of the expansion content I already have, nor most of the base game)
Iām waiting to see what the Cthulhu: Death May Die season 3 campaign looks like before I decide on Trick Shot.
Best with 2 players according to BGG. Thatāll be a no from me dawg
Where the frick is Sol: Last Days of a Star reprint!?
Yeah, thatās the biggest hurdle for me, as well. I have a ton of 2-player-only and best-at-2-player games that donāt get played⦠do I really need another?
The answer is: maybe.
Painted copies of the first edition were selling for £150 before this announcement.
Iām tempted for the scalping potential but I have too much integrity.
The same thought occurred to me. I wonāt buy copies just to scalp⦠but it does help me balance the equation for pledging; if I donāt end up liking it, it seems likely I can get my money back, especially for the painted version.
This week seems to be the international week of crowdfunding. Apart from the trick-taking combo, Trick Shot and Spirit Island, Carl Chudykās new game Aegean Sea starts tomorrow and - relating to your plea - I just received a newsletter that Sol will get its reprint campaign in December.
Iād speculate that itās the post Essen ācoming to Kickstarterā launch season.
Also the Oathsworn reprint. So far I am in for $55 worth of Spirit Island goodness and nothing else, but I might snag the update pack for Oathsworn. Maybe. If it matters enough. Thereās no new content and I just got my copy a couple weeks ago.
Guards of Atlantis 2 is cool enough that I would consider other stuff from them but hockey is one of the least interesting themes possible to me so ehhh.
As a fellow enthusiast for SI, I canāt see the point in backing. Foil things seem pointless and shipping is expensive. Is there a reason not to just wait for retail?
I may have trouble getting the English language version. Not sure. I didnāt really think about it because SI⦠so⦠shipping includes VAT this time so thatās fair enough for me. I definitely want the deluxe tokens to go with the rest of my game. I know these will be available retail as well so that isnāt really an argument.
So the question really is do I want the hassle of running after the English version later? For many other games, youād have convinced me to cancel the pledge. But with SIā¦
That makes sense. As English copies will be the ones here Iāll probably wait. Paying more than the cost of the base game seems rough for a smaller expansion than Jagged Earth.
Iād be in if it had access to a new promo pack or stretch goals upped the number of spirits or something. As it is, nope. That hurts because itās SI and itās amazing
December 6th apparently for sol. Jumpin Jesus the mail with detail was like 10 minutes after you posted this.
But no progress on Organism apparently?
Yeah sounds like trying to make the physical models the way that they are wanting to is proving problematic and was slowing down the launch of the sol Kickstarter.
Going back to Kickstarter for Die of the Dead reprint and expansion, and we launch in a week. Would appreciate all follows- Iām not sure how the KS algorithm works for highlighting projects, but Iām pretty sure itās just ārich get richerā. Using the Spiral Galaxy distributors for IOSS so EU payments should be good (still have to charge VAT, but can ofset some of the postage costs if we do super well)
