Not a game kiickstarter but couldn’t find an appropriate thread elsewhere. These guys I’ve found are really good and engaging so I’m in. Minimum Labyrinth
Is anyone interested in rolling heights? Looks like some fun gimmicks but I’m kind of burned a bit on John Clare games (cubitos)
I will wait for retail, or, hopefully win the BGG contest.
It feel like it’s a game where they’ll make production mistakes early on. Though I don’t think AEG makes those kinds of mistakes often (but I don’t buy a lot of new releases from AEG)
This is gonna be a “wait for retail” and “more info needed” for me
Backing Tindaya, as I read the campaign and got really into it. Hits to close to home not to, the creator is from my hometown, how would I not pledge.
By the way, given that Gamefound is going up places, shouldn’t we rename this thread The Crowdfunding Thread??
Done. (And not, as I had it briefly, the crowfunding thread. Nice experiment, but it turns out all they’ll support is projects that will produce lots of unattended dead animals.)
What I want to know is how quickly the crows will game the system and start taking cigarette butts out of hands and mouths or even stealing cigarette packs.
A friend of my wife’s knew a crow who picked up butts and took to smoking them.
I’ve always loved the “crow vending machine” talk, whereby someone explains how they showed a bunch of suburban crows that a custom-built machine dispensed food… and then made it so that the crows could only get the food by picking up one of the many surrounding coins and dropping it into a slot on the machine… and then removed the convenient supply of nearby coins.
OH BOY that’s not gonna end well.
Despite my getting rid of Imperial Settlers… mostly due to my partner disliking the interactive elements in it (years and years ago), I backed the new KS campaign for 51st State. I watched more reviews and decided it’s a game I need to get through and possibly out of my system… but I have hopes that I am going to like it. Love the theme.

If someone were trying to aim a game directly at me it could look a lot like this. But I’m just not enthused. Even before I see the all-in costing $230 $272 (VAT!) shipped. Shades of T.I.M.E. Stories maybe?
I regretted not backing it the first time around. 2 handed solo play and coop survival might be able to deliver for my partner and me what 7th continent failed to do–in smaller bites. But it’s an expensive experience with a lot of shelf space required.
Having just backed Tindaya and 51st state though this is a difficult choice.
It’s definitely not going to be available at retail (the previous version was picked up by just 1 shop I frequent and quickly sold out) so if I want it… I need to back it. I think I’ll watch a review with my partner and depending on his reaction I’ll make my decision.
edit: Settled: Unsettled | SPACE-BIFF! --caveat: while I always enjoy reading the reviews, I have bought more than a few games after reading them and it’s hit and miss how much fun I have with the games in question.
re: shelf space–see images in this thread oO. The all-in pledge will probably need a whole K-cube: No "All-In Planet Box" for the Big $210 / $250 Pledge? | Unsettled
Was looking at Unsettled myself. Watched a 10 minute video, which waffled on and on about efficiency, without actually showing what you might actually do in a game. Maybe they were trying to avoid spoilers.
I have the first four planets and played one mission two handed. It’s a nice wee puzzle with a few “ah but if you done this” type situations that I could see being fun at two player.
I hate that the giant box is non Kallax friendly (the top of my Kallax is getting crowded) and only holds two of the planets.
I am going to get a few more missions under my belt and decide if I want more planets.
Can you see yourself playing a planet again after you’ve won?
I just got notification that my copy of Planet Unknown is “on the way”… this has got to be my (currently) oldest “open” Kickstarter. Played at SPIEL 2019… I still like games with polyominoes so that’s a good sign that it may have been worth the wait.
Unfortunately I would say it depends. The nearest comparison I can think of is Arkham lcg.
Once you’ve completed it some of the sheen of repeating it has gone off but I would play again if it was with different people. I’m wondering if some of the modules might address the replay ability.
Also did a bit more research and saving all other EU citizens the hassle:
- All-in-no-sleeves pledge including shipping and vat comes to ~250€ (3 shops–more than I knew previously–I know stocked the previous campaign at around 150-170€ but that obviously included 3 fewer planets and none of the modules they have this time. )
- Basegame + 2 Planets pledge including shipping and vat comes to ~110€
I watched a bit of video material and it does seem to have some replay value for planets you’ve already solved. Different characters, different focus, slightly different setup… but the question remains how much of the game lies in the discovery of the puzzle.
Here’s a Dice Tower Four Squares that I am going to watch later: The 4 Squares Review - Unsettled - YouTube with Tom, Roy, Mike and Chris Yi. (My buddy analysis has already spoiled Tom’s opinion which apparently differs from Spacebiif and Radho (whose ratings are more telling than his reviews)
Marc Neidlinger also designed Vindication | Board Game | BoardGameGeek which I ended up not buying or backing last time that one was around.
As local designated “expert” @GeeBizzle: My partner wants to know how “harsh” the survival component is and how difficult it is to start over when the game kills you?
Our two main issues with 7th Continent were 1) dying after hours and hours of play because we ran out of cards/food or whatever and 2) huge amount of numbered cards… that have to go back in their specific little compartments and ordered so you can find them next time you play. Exploration coupled with survival better make it easy to start over which 7th Continent absolutely does not.
By the way, my Bardsung pledge on Gamefound changed to “Shipping” last week. I have to get the shelf for boardgames quick, KS and Gamefound are raining them on me…
