I will probably end up demoing this at some future Essen, but I feel no great enthusiasm for owning it. Basic concept is “streamlined Aeon’s End, SF theme”. I don’t feel I need a streamlined Aeon’s End, and the theming is very much the fantastic anything-can-happen end of SF.
If I didn’t already have the DE I’d be looking at doing that too; I’d probably be annoyed at the size of the deluxe box if it wasn’t so darn nice. If you think the standard edition is a box full of air, consider this: the deluxe box is 30% larger just to give that air some structural integrity!
I wouldn’t dream of it, I haven’t the skill nor the tools. But I am keeping an eye to see what the include in the campaign. If they only leave it at deluxe all-in, I will have to think about it… or save, which hopefully by the time the close the pledges, I might be there…
Oh Noes, my All Aboard plans have been set back by the entirely predictable but never fails to surprise me as I forget when it is annual car service this month
I’ll probably wait for retail, postage to the UK is going to be steep.
This really doesn’t need to be crowd funded though, it will sell out at retail with no problems. Frustrating for smaller producers who need the funding model to get their projects to market.
I’d guess that big, well-funded campaigns are where Gamefound (et al) make most of their money, making it viable for them to exist as a platform at all.
But yes, “money people are willing to pledge in advance” is definitely a small, finite pool, so there are likely games that will miss out because people picked Ra instead.
