How much do you want for it?

I’ve had a few games now where the inserts seem to have been designed purely on the digital ideal. Mind MGMT and very recently Caper: Europe each have lids that ā€œfloatā€ (though nothing like Petrichor—yikes!) and don’t seem to have included any tolerance for i.e. mold variance, the manual thickening with use, etc. My (deluxe) copy of Mind MGMT has even suffered some minor damage to a component as a result. I’m all for an efficient box design, but a little wiggle room needs to be considered more often.

FWIW I’ve seen this with multiple manufacturers, including GameTrayz™©®.

Aaah, Petrichor looks great! I’m a sucker for any game with coloured glass.

Holy carp. Very tempted by Final Girl! Thanks for the heads up @SteveB_uk !

EDIT: Would love to hear some thoughts on this actually. Hostage Negotiator looks amazing, but I can’t get it anywhere. Has anyone got both and can say which is better?

TL/DR: Which is better Hostage Negotiator or Final Girl?

There is a SUSD review for Hostage Negotiator which may be the reason it is still not available anywhere? I am reasonably sure you’ll find a Dice Tower review of Final Girl–because that’s where I heard about it, the Year End Top 10 or so had several of the reviewers gushing, or if not several at least Mike Dilisio. According to him Final Girl is an overall improvement.

I haven’t played either. There is an app implementation of Hostage Negotiator that may be of interest in trying the general principle for a bit cheaper than the KS.

Final Girl is an evolution of the Hostage Negotiator core design and IMO is an improvement in every way. Note however that it does not have an equivalent to Hostage Negotiator’s career campaign. (I joked elsewhere that obviously one is coming but uh, the premise does not actually lend itself.)

Yes, the box already has some scratch damage inside that is sure to have resulted from the insert -.-
Not terrible but also not great. The floating lid though… I am still figuring out if I didn’t pack it right. I appreciate Obsession more and more . He fiddled with the boxes forever until everything was just perfect and even made it so the expansion box could be part of the organization.

Elf-Creek seems to know what they are doing. Moonrakers and Dwellings of Eldervale have working inserts.

The big wooden box for Spirit Island is not great. Really hard to close. Some of the stacking is wobbly.

I am not sure wether I like the West Kingdom big boxes–so far only Paladins has arrived and I fit the base game and my insert into the original smallish box. Now with not that much additional material the big box is full and less organized than my original attempt. -.-

Is this the one from the ks campaign as an add on? If so I agree, I put it in 2 boxes, base game box and jagged earth box. While it’s disappointing not to be able to keep a single box it is excellent for speeding set up, tear down and in game token access.

Elf Creek may know what they are doing with production, but my copy of Merchants of the Dark Road has spent 6 days on a FedEx truck… and still hasn’t left Florida.

A grueling 6-day journey

To be fair, if it is on a FedEx truck, then it’s out of Elf Creek’s hands. That’s all FedEx.

True. And normally I get Quartermaster Logistics packages within a few days. Not sure what’s happening. But it looks like my copy of Merchants will sit on my doorstep for a few days while I am at the hospital, rather than arriving yesterday like was estimated.

Nothing serious, I hope?

Ah, thanks very much. Might have to back this… after everything I said about not getting into new games. BAH!

Edit: Backed it. I figure the core box plus two movies will be enough to get the idea if I like it or not.

I hope that remains true with their Atlantis Rising expansion coming ā€œthis yearā€. The base game box is pretty spectacular, enough so that I’d be willing to keep a separate box for the expansion when it hits… provided it’s equally useful.

Oh no, that can be a chronic issue.

Tapestry comes to mind. I felt the need to add my own portions to their meager effort for an insert and then the expansion brought new buildings… Stonemaier are experts for going halfway with their efforts. Except Red Rising. That one works.

Tempted by both puzzle strike 2 and that new Kemet.
