Unfortunately, it is my one regret for the placement of these shelves. Behind that door is the water supply line for the house.

I really, really hope it never fails catastrophically.

That’s a… bold choice. Very bold.

PS these are a thing. Just found out.

... It's happening...

But, it’ll have to wait until another night

To have the space for 2 5by5 … I’m dreaming of a single one but maybe I should dream bigger (no change in storage until we move and we’ll start renovating middle of 21 if all goes to plan)

I had always assumed that when I get round to buying a Kallax it would have to be big enough to house my games and most of my cats.

Just Boats, then?

In our old house, the boardgames were always kept in areas behind closed doors, away from tiny hands. When choosing the location of these shelves, we realized we would not have that luxury.

We briefly discussed using only the top three rows of shelves on each of these units for games and leveraging the bottom two for other purposes… the IKEA cat houses were definitely in consideration.

(Un?)Fortunately, we reckoned that we would need more IKEA shelves if we didn’t utilize all 5 rows. So now we’ll just have to teach our children to not touch anything on the shelves without supervision… Wish us luck.

I am currently trying to teach a c. 10-month old rescue puppy not to touch or bite things on shelves, tables, etc. Also not to get on tables, period. Best wishes in solidarity!

This way is better in the long run. Rooting for you.

Now that I have two 2x4 Kallax. This is seems like a good size for me, personally. However, I still cheat the system by combining games together. I mean, to be fair, those boxes are just full of air.

Mashed up together
  • Blue Lagoon + Terra Nova
  • Antike II + Navegador
  • Power Struggle + Santiago
  • RFTG + San Juan. Race’s box is full of air. I have both games plus Gathering Storm and Rebel vs Imperium expansions. All four premium sleeved. And they all still fit!
  • Bridges of Shangri-La + Carolus Magnus
  • Kardinal und Konig (aka Web of Power) + Han
  • Chicago Express + German Railways
  • Tiger and Pots + Through the Desert

Imhotep comes in a huge TTR size box, but they all fit together with the expansion in that small expansion box. Same with Fields of Green. TTR size box, but everything fits in the small expansion box. The plano box are Cthulhu Wars stuff that I think are brittle. The Coup Rebellion box contains all the Blue Moon cards. And the actual Coup Rebellion is in the Seasons expansion box. The black box sandwiched between CW and Summoner Wars Alliance is Ortus Regni

The Cthulhu Wars boxes on the top of the shelf are containers for my small box games. It works

There are some space filler games there. Haven’t played them yet, but they help filling it up like Warpgate and Planet Steam. I have more games stacked somewhere. Eventually, I will clean them all up.

I’d love to see in the future on how your collection evolves.

Don’t see a lot of Coup Rebellion G54 these days. It’s not the wonder that original Coup is but I rather like it.

I need to play it more to see if it sticks. But the pandemic made it difficult to play with loads of people

I always find it reassuring to see people post game collections bigger than mine. That way I don’t feel like I’ve gone completely overboard in my purchases over the years (despite continuing to purchase more games).

Time to reveal my shame

I see no shame! Only delicious cardboard.

You’re a terrible liar, and that’s okay. :upside_down_face:

You’re going to need a bigger plant if you want to hide those boxes!

Well, the only shame I can see is that you are hiding games under other games in those–whatever they are–baskets…

I replied to this already ages ago but I recently played with @lalunaverde and we both really enjoyed it. Something I didn’t mention before was how fast Noria is with such depth And brutality. Great game.
