Selling/ Buying/ Trading Games

As I see it, the argument for is that they can send them out again in the next MT, and everyone else hates reruns. Which I suppose is fair enough, but one does actually want people to enjoy the MT process…

I don’t know about the UK Maths Trade, but the US ones repeat ad nauseum that you are responsible for honoring your trades, even if you make a mistake.

It’s a hard nut to crack, because certainly getting 4 copies of Endeavor is likely to be an honest mistake and a mixup with, arguably, the most complicated aspect of the trade (duplicate protection); but it does sound like a good way for certain personality types to maliciously engineer scenarios to gauge the interest for certain games without having to go through with the trade, being then allowed to set trades with additional information.

My understanding is the offending items/user is removed from the trade for the rerun

I definitely could not be bothered with double math trade faff

That’s a great policy, all things considered

It’s being re run again!

Something that has put me off trades is that the wording of the rules does come across as pretty scary for a first time trader. I needed a lot of help to get mine sorted.

I don’t know whether this is normal, but the comments do generally seem to be that someone made a genuine mistake, rather than trying to game the system.

For a non- maths trade, BGG trade, do I have any comeback if what is sent doesn’t arrive/ isn’t up to scratch.

Just been offered something tempting, but without money changing hands it seems risky. The other party has a decent trade rating.

You can leave negative feedback on the trader, but AIUI BGG won’t make good if you get the wrong thing or nothing at all.

I only have 5 trades from 6. Basically, I lost Kogge. Been looking for that one for a while now :frowning:

Check the results to see if it got traded or not; if not, maybe reach out and try to work something out directly

I do wonder why duplicate protection isn’t built in at the foundation level rather than relying on users to include this. Duplicates are desirable in so few games (CCGs… and that’s about it?)! Seems like faff and lack of accessibility for the sake of it.

It’s almost like they take pride in how difficult the system is to use as some kind of rite of passage. It’s the worst kind of “nerd” git gud culture.

I feel it’s what happens when you get a hardcore programmer to make the system without input from actual casual users.

Another re-run!

Still got my trades

Thought I’d ask the owner of the untraded copy of Antiquity whether they would consider selling. They wanted £120 :grimacing:

I should look for out of print games more often - it seems like a great way to stop myself spending any money

Thank you, I just looked through that list and among a bunch of weird things are (more than) a few games I’d be actually interested in at least trying. So I’ll have a look through my “reject” pile and see if I manage to find the time to participate.
