New one: Zombicide Invader is going out already. Super fun, really easy solo in spite of the 6 hero requirement. Technically I should really be looking at nixing Aliens ahead of this one, but… Aliens has that sweet cardplay and a stronger appeal for multiplayer (not even considering the beloved IP).
A bit of a glut going out recently (and still more for sale, not being posted yet). Let’s see if I can remember everything…

Project L is out the door already. It’s fine, and the tactile nature of the tiles and pieces really helps, but it was also incredibly boring. The puzzles themselves weren’t the star of the show, and that was a problem for me. The big dopamine hit seemed to be tuned to the very basic get-more-to-do-more engine building aspect, which will surely hit with a lot of people but not this guy. Disappointing.

BIG ONE: Forbidden Stars is gone. I don’t want to dig in too much here, but this is part of a theme and just one of a few major doozies on the horizon. I’m still over 30 games from 50 under two years ago, and I’d like to cut that further. Part of these decisions are based on where my life is at. Sold without a profit (or loss) to a friend within the group.
-
I finally dumped what little Tau-related stuff I had for Aeronautica Imperialis and met someone within that side of the community in the process. I’m still (slowly) painting the game, but I’ve got a nice collection for two factions already and that’s already too much.
-
Aristeia! has been sold, unplayed but at least unpainted. This one’s a shame as it looked so damn fun, but there was little chance it would see the table, such is the fate of so many new-ish competitive games launched around Covid (see Aeronautica Imperialis).
Further to my above motives, this was in a cull of my miniatures backlog.
-
Bullet💙 is a bloody excellent game. It’s also a game I want to play with my partner and it stresses her the eff out, even untimed and in co-op. Without her on board, I don’t need it for myself and it had to go. Pity.
-
Destinies was a hit with my partner and it pissed me right off. But then we kept talking about it for a week… and never really wanted to reach for it… and agreed we probably wouldn’t any time soon. Sold to a friend.
-
Flick 'em Up! including Stallion Canyon and Red Rock Tomahawk, wood box first edition, which I feverishly sought out early this year. Sold to a friend, and will happily play any time, but this is part of the thinning-out priorities.
Whew.
It’s being redeveloped anyway, hopefully for the better.
Yeah that was what really got me over the hump in making the decision. I planned to sell it cheap, relatively speaking, so I needed to be sure before listing it. Sure enough I had a deal in seconds.
Same here. My partner runs away shrieking at mere mention of a timer. But without a timer it becomes a (something something to early for the good words and I need to get to work) puzzle and… I’ll play a few games but suspect mine is going the same way in the not too far of future (I am already hording boxes to ship games in for the next big cleanup)
Just sold Fantasy Realms and Cursed Horde.
Whilst I enjoy it as a game, I got an offer well over the odds on them. So cleared £10 profit.
I think that there can definitely be a premium for “I can have this game Right Now rather than waiting for restock/reprint/international shipping”.
I’m not sure I’ll rebuy it. It’s fine.
But given 15 minutes I can think of many other games I’d choose that I own.
I’m already letting Warp’s Edge go (not yet sold, but I don’t anticipate a long wait). It’s a fun game that consistently runs a warp too long. It’s a shame, if it had been tuned to be one warp shorter on average I think it would have made a pretty regular appearance on my morning table. As it stands, I find myself exhausted and indifferent during what should be the most exciting round.
[EDIT] Sold!
I’m selling my Aeronautica Imperialis lot tonight after some soul searching. I’ve decided any sentimentality I have for it is clearly based on the plane models themselves, and there’s no reason I can’t just revisit that hobby on its own (and in larger scales!). It’s a lot of stuff and I’m probably letting it go for too little, but I’m formally system-agnostic now that the game is gone, and that feels good.
I sold Deep Space D-6 Armada this morning, to a friend. This made for a guilt-free sale since I was very open about my thoughts on its quality, and will easily be able to follow up with an errata pack which seems to be in the works (minor stuff but he’s making good).
Following on form my 15 games thread, sold
The Estates - too group dependent
Faiyum - It’s a fine game, but I’d rather teach others above it
Up for sale are Keyflower, see Faiyum, Babylonia, see Faiyum,
Bonus small boxes
Remember Our Trip - I’m glad to have played it but it surprisingly crunchy
Startups - It’s a more complicated No Thanks
I finally got around to putting up some of my games on ebay Kleinanzeigen. First batch. I hope tomorrow I’ll be able to get to the second batch–right now I am missing daylight for taking more quick photos of boxes. And yes, as announced Luna Capital is with that first batch. I am reasonably sure I’ll get rid of that one quickly. It is so new and barely available anywhere right now
18Cheese, great when I started 18xx, but now felt soft and forgiving.
Little Prince: Make Me a Planet - not my thing
13 Minutes: The Cuban Missile Crisis - enjoyed it but I only want a few 2 players.
Orongo - sacrilegious that I am selling a Knizia - and a good one. But I have too many of his. Games I would rather play than this one.
Hyperborea - felt that Mike Bigney overhyped this one. It’s okay.
Age of Industry - great but would rather play Brass Lanc. And I know someone who’s always happy to brings his AoI copy. I can further explore the game that way.
Ginkgopolis - too many light weight games. This one didn’t made it. 30 light games means 30!
Iberian Gauge - preferred Holland’s other similar title: Trans Siberian Railway
Medici the Dice Game - not as good as the card game and the board game.
Tajuto - I love the pagodas, but I must stick to the limit
Blue Lagoon - great game, but Knizia had better tile laying games
Lignum 2nd ed - great game, but not a Kondo keeper
Renature - this one is tough. This is my kind of game, but I have all 4 Mask Trilogy titles.
Me as well, but I enjoy the different maps you get in Age of Industry. At least you still have access to the game through your game group.
I’ll be letting Great Plains and Cry Havoc go tomorrow morning. I liked Great Plains quite a bit, but it’s a game that lives or dies on having an interested and competitive partner; I have the latter. As for Cry Havoc, we can definitely call it a victim here. I was hoping to explore it some more, but after bringing in Kemet a few weeks back, it went straight to the sell pile.
Sold from my big stack of games that „have to find new homes“
- Sushi Go Party (although that will likely be replaced by the original, I like it just fine in the small package I find)
- Bullet
because as a solo puzzle I have better ones and the puzzle completely paralyzed my partner
- Moon Adventure and Doko Jong. Really the Oink size fascinates me but the games do not always do. The only one of my Oink games I have ever played is Fake Artist. Everything else sits here waiting. Some of them due to player count requirements re:pandemic of course.
- Loot of Lima: I have some better deduction games and this one while nice was never going to make it to the table over Planet X. Admittedly, bought because I could not get my hands on Planet X at the time shakes head ah well…
There is surely more to come. I just need to put up more entries on ebay Kleinanzeigen. I don‘t sell stacks of games and I am selling for pretty high prices right now. Although for the smaller games I usually take one big picture of all of them and list separate prices and shipping only when the price reaches a certain limit. Although I have discovered if I have really small ones, I can kind of send them as a letter with the post instead of DHL. But with the Oink games that meant I had to go to the post office to drop them off because they were just a couple mm too high to fit into the post box and the package station is DHL only.
Yes. And I feel like area control is one of the mechanisms that divides gamers into people who grok it intuitively and those who hate it. I will be giving my copy to one of the kids from our friends who seemed to enjoy it way more than my partner did. I do know I have to be careful with 2 player games. I had hopes that this might be simple enough… and it is. But it makes the difference between our ability to control the board even more visible.
Seems like we ended up having the same issues with Bullet as well. Two nice ones made victims of circumstance. Speaking of the games of course, we’ll be fine.
Taking a page out of someone’s book I decided to offer a set of games as a bundle because I noted I messed up my package box hoarding and kept a lot of large boxes but not enough “just a single game” boxes. Oops.
So I thought: well if I put these 3 games into that box, I could just argue I HAVE to sell them together.
So today I got a request for one of the other 2 games I had up and some interest in the bundle and managed to adjust the combined pricing in such a way that if he doesn’t reconsider at the last second I will have sold
- Goa
- Carpe Diem
- Among the Stars
- Luna Capital
And have to make just 1 package for it
I also gave (not sold) Ishtar to our Euro friends (the ones with the other copy of Goa, Istanbul, Alubari, Princes of Florence, and all the other Euros I am getting rid of). I gave my copies of the 2001 Werewolf plus expansion to their daughter. I almost convinced them to take my copy of Alchemists but we got distracted talking about how to run docker inside WSL2…
So in the short span of 2 days I reduced my collection by 6 games Yay!
Ps: and sold! Ha. I really like the speed of these transactions. (Most of the time).
