Last game you DIDN'T buy?

How I pictured that:

How did you get inside my house?!

This just triggered a memory… I think I almost did buy it a year or two ago; but there were new editions and after spending a bunch of time looking at them online I came to a realisation that the old edition seemed better than the new one, and I think that was to do with the size of the text on the tiles, and I couldn’t find an old edition for sale…

Booooooo, second edition! You’re supposed to IMPROVE on old stuff!

The best edition of Suburbia is the digital version - hands down. :upside_down_face:

Speaking as someone who doesn’t do digital games at all, this is about as close as I’ll ever get to agreeing with you - the process of working through immediate effect, conditional effect, adjacent conditional effects, non-adjacent conditional effects, other players, can be enjoyable as an activity but for me at least not over the whole length of the game.

absolutely agree. digital is the way. I suppose Suburbia could be quite mathy if not for the app handling all that. I’ve been not buying physical Suburbia for years now, too.

I think the neuroshima hex digital game has a similar element of removing the faff, oh wait whose shot is next did I do that in the right sequence.

I could never buy Twilight Struggle after having played the app. Just so many little things that could be missed and rules to screw up that the app won’t.

Not quite what this thread is for, but the second hand copy of Kemet we got on Facebook hasn’t arrived nearly two weeks after paying for it. Seller hasn’t responded to messages since saying it was sent last Thursday.

Bit annoyed

If you paid using PayPal you can probably get the money back - still annoying though

We’re to give it one more day

Try to believe it’s human error but not replying to multiple messages is a bit concerning

I had the same thing happen last year buying a game on Facebook. I like to think that life just got in the way, but I did end up having to file a claim to get the money back.

This was a thing I found when I did Freecycle too: someone would get all enthusiastic about what I was offering, then not turn up to collect the thing, then completely vanish.

I’ve had people do that and then ask to be considered for something I offered the next day. It’s infuriating.

Talk to a mod if you bought it from a group

Have done. Cheers

Target currently has a buy 2, get 1 free offer going on for video and board games. Due to some finangling my wife did with their customer service over a couple of video games she purchased recently, she was able to get a $60 gift card, which we then rolled into this deal again. We already had two video games chosen, so needed one more $60ish game.

Locking through the board games, I was tempted by Space Cadets: Away Missions, Viticulture, and Paladins of the West Kingdom, but I resisted the temptation, despite the game basically being free! I am trying to hold to my goal of not buying any games until Ra or a new Unmatched set is released.

So, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla was picked as the third game instead.

Watergate has been in and out of my basket more times than I can remember. I love two player games, teach US politics and love this era of political history… Yet every time I get close to buying it I keep thinking my girlfriend is going to be totally turned off by the theme.

I’ve often toyed with picking up Paperback, but word games sometimes have a limited appeal… Maybe I’ll be deleting this one from this thread later.

Last one would be Onitama. I’m still not sure how I’ve not got this already. It’s two player, I loves the app and my girlfriend is a big fan of chess. Surely it’s a no brainer? Can’t explain why I’ve not pulled the trigger on this one.

My partner has said as much, straight up. I was in the same boat, waffling over buying it again and again, until I finally gave her a quick rundown and asked what she thought, point blank. Nope. Just nope. She’s a good sport and will try just about anything in her wheelhouse but the concept might as well have been partner repellent.

I’d just ask her flat out. For closure, man. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
