https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2488464/uk-game-expo-weekend-deals has some discounts.
Yeh, Games Loreās UKGE deal snagged me and Iāve picked up Bargain Quest, Roam, and Montmartre.
And the copy of The Ancient World I ordered the other day just turned up. So Iāve spent my lunch stickering components. Curse you Ryan Laukat and your pretty games!
Absolutely. One of the hardest parts about teaching it is just that people think thereās more, but thatās all there is. Put your tokens on the table, and then let the game entertain you.
My friend said he wanted to play Imperial Struggle. So of course I bought it. £45 was a decent deal though!
Asmodee are having a sale on Humble Bundle if anyone is interested
Again? They only recently had a complete bundle⦠but different titles it seems⦠and I just bought the Root early access yesterday (not Asmodee but I am thinking there might be some interested parties here)
Edit: I own quite a lot of those already due to the humble bundle earlier.
Recommendations
Terraforming Mars is really a nice implementation although afaik there are no expansions.
I have personally also enjoyed the Lord of the Rings but the campaign is short as of now.
Both Smallworld and Ticket to Ride are fantastic as apps but they did destroy the actual games for me because the app is so much faster to play⦠perfect little distraction for a break. Mostly played on my phone/tablet though.
I second the Splendor app (see below). It is also quite fast to play and the implementation is very well done. I play on my phone.
Scythe seems to be a great implementation but I have never played the physical game and always felt like I was overlooking important details. But but itās def. cheaper to buy the app to see if you might enjoy the gameā¦
The only one I can comment on out of those is that the Splendor app is absolutely worth it.
Got a trade for another holy grail. The Throne and Grail, but this one is the Polish one. Im happy to get this edition, instead of the Japanese one. Not sure which art/theme I prefer. But this is pretty!!
I bought 1861/1867 as a reasonably priced 18XX. Like the art better then the All Aboard Games 18XX and will keep an eye on Grand Trunk Games 1889 reprint
It looks as if my War of Whispers has in fact turned up! Thanks so much @raged_norm.
Hurrah!
Filling out
I am not sure yet when and where Iāll have it but I just acquired Mottainai Mini on ebay the other day where I finally saw it for a price (including shipping) I was willing to pay. Now the wait for it to arrive from the US. The combined price was such that it should pass by customs⦠and that all happened before it was mentioned elsewhere in this forum. But those comments totally re-assured my buying decision.
I really wish Asmadi games were easier to get in Europe or that some German publisher will translate them. Maybe Skellig will get to it after they are done with all the Fowers games
Rallyman arrived. Lookig at the box contents Iām not sure I need or even want an expansion.
I went for On Mars. Itās an absolute beast. Iām looking forward to figuring it out. I think Iāve got the rules mostly down, but I need to get someone to play it with me! I tried solo, but Iām not a big solo gamer and the AI was a little too fiddly to enjoy. So I need to get it to the table with another human and figure it out!
Welcome to the forums! And hopefully you will get it to the table soon, fingers crossed.
Few on the recently bought list:
Fugitive - a very tense card game where one person plays a fugitive placing cards as hideouts, while the other person plays the Marshall trying to find them. For the fugitive itās a game of bluffing, and to a point hand management, while for the Marshall itās deduction.
Sagrada Played this recently and had to buy it. Such a pretty, puzzley game that I canāt wait to arrive.
Cartographers another nice roll and write which should hopefully arrive today!
Iād be interested to see a pic of the contents when your copy turns up. I waffled on a copy of mini as I wasnāt sure what the player mats are like. Iād really like an even more potable set though.
I am still waiting for my copy (I bought it via the Kanban KS without backing Kanban because I had no idea whether it would be available hereāmy FLGS has it now). Looking forward very much to trying that⦠fiddly AI is a bit sad because there is exactly one person among my boardgame friends who might want to play this with me and due to the way things are itās highly unlikely that weāll be able to meet for a game like that.
I would reccomend using coloured pens or pencils with Cartographers.
I have poor impulse control and saw an interesting looking game going cheap. The Search for Planet X.
Itās app driven but that means the deduction is likely to go wrong.
