Last game you bought?

Bought Dawn of the Zeds, was on sale. I’m a bit of a sucker for zombies, and this sounded like a good one.

Oh, bother. There’s a new Concordia expansion - which inevitably I want, but I suspect won’t be able fit in the boxes…

My Kickstarter pledge for the Mini Express Map Pack Expansion 1 & 2 arrived today. So, 4 more maps to play with Mini Express along with 5 modules that you can mix-match with base game and expansion maps.

That’s a lot of Mini Express!

Bought For Science KS edition for £50, which I think is decent price for a game that isn’t released yet in the UK

How???

I’ve been looking for that on and off for ages

^^ That.

My OLGS says “awaiting release date from publisher” and has been for more than a year.

The Barracks Emperors, can’t remember how I got onto it. It’s trick taking, but a bit more complicated. Sounded like fun anyway.

That’s not a Hat, it’s £8 and should be good for a few Christmas plays

A particularly peculiar parcel appeared upon my step, recently.

What was in it, you might ask? Well, so did I! For it was a gift from a friend, but I was unprepared for the exact dimensions of this box.

I opened it to discover that, approximately 3 years ago, Steve Jackson Games did something that cannot be explained by man nor beast.

(RBO&ADTS for scale)

And now I own a copy of this thing. This 6th edition of Car Wars contained in a product called the Double Ace Box (I’m not sure they’ve accurately tracked the etymology of “ace” in this context)

I recall a few years ago talking to a friend who dabbled with Car Wars in a previous iteration back in the 90s, and we discussed hearing news about a new edition of Car Wars; we both then independently discovered Gaslands (and, then, A Billion Suns), but I do think getting Car Wars to the table, metaphorically speaking, shouldn’t be an issue (physically having this box on a table is slightly less so)

And, as if that wasn’t somehow enough, also included was a copy of OGRE, which I’ve been eyeing for a while. It’s Kickstarter reprint predated my knowledge of boardgames being on Kickstarter, and so while I don’t hear a lot about it in online communities today, there seems to be a group of enthusiasts for which it’s remained relevant all these years.

You thought I’d leave you hanging? Of course I opened the box!

A huge thank you to my friend who sent these! I won’t embarrass them by giving a name (but maybe I should, because this is just incredible)

Surely you need to pick up an extra copy or two. Just to be safe.

Only if you’re transitioning hobbies from board games to powerlifting.

I don’t understand how anything can make the absolutely massive Ogre box look so small. That’s insane.

(Or is that not the Ogre box? The dice next to it do make it look like an entirely different scale. Edit: No, in hindsight that’s definitely a smaller Ogre box, and I’m no longer feeling as stunned by the other boxes!)

They were originally going to name it “The Big Number Two”, and changed it to “Double Ace” at the last minute.

Yeah, OGRE Kickstarter Edition is the megabox, and OGRE 6th edition is the slightly more reasonably-sized retail version.

Got Unmatched: Cobble and Fog for Christmas!

Will have to buy the new co-op box so myself and partner can play Hammer horror monsters co-op.

Seeing that the new el grande got released (thanks NPI) and is selling out I ordered me a copy to save me a wait for the reprint.

Bought a copy of Boop for Tina. We’ve not played it yet and I’m largely clueless when it comes to choosing games, so fingers crossed…

I got BOOoop as it is basically the same game, with one new mechanic that can be omitted in order to play the original game. It is incredibly cute, and the game feels pretty solid too.
