I traded away more games yesterday and over the weekend, and brought in the following:
Conquest of Planet Earth including Apocalypse
Maracaibo: The Uprising
And apparently Helter Skelter with the Dark Judges expansion. Thanks @Phil that’s way too hot a deal to pass up. $48.65 tax-in and shipped (to BC) for any interested Canadians.
Three new solo/soloable games are winging their way to me. Black Sonata will give me another quickish solo title to sample and I finally made the plunge to buy Concordia with the Solitaria expansion so looking forward to trying that alone and with others. Then this morning - shortly after listening to SU&SD podcast 170, looking at the art and watching a few other reviews - I bought Endangered with the New Species expansion. At least by when they arrive I should have more time and opportunities to play them.
Well I did it. I took home a copy of Fortune and Glory today after checking out a used copy at a local game shop, which I had noticed last week.
They priced it at $50 but the box and insert had damage and I managed to get them to knock another $5 off. Both of those are getting tossed the second I find an appropriate bin anyway, so that was a nice little victory, and I’m pretty sure the shop is happy to have the ridiculous thing outta there anyway.
Sneaky nice score, it’s basically brand new! As far as I can tell someone barely started to open and punch the game because only one deck of cards was opened, and one punchboard was popped. I do seem to be missing the round tracking token but I have spares of those and anything will do, besides. I’ve got a line on the two current expansions at a good price as well, so I’ll be looking to scoop those up when I can.
I haven’t got much hope that this will ever see another human in front of it, but so far that’s true of all my Flying Frog games, and they’ve all been bangers for solo play. Here’s hoping for a third win for Jason C. Hill.
[EDIT] Well that didn’t take long. Treasure Hunters and Rise of the Crimson Hand came home today.
I didn’t buy it, but I received Under Falling Skies as a Valentine’s gift from my wife. I really enjoyed the TTS mod I played, and look forward to trying out new locations with the physical game. Plus I am sure the die rolling will be much more satisfying IRL.
Yep, it’s 4 new heroes, a bunch of new cards to shuffle in to the decks, two new Mob villains and then a “Personal Goals” deck, which is a small new module.
Just got back from our FLGS with our new game, MicroMacro Crime City: Full House.
My wife got sold on it when I explained it as basically Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective meets Where’s Waldo.
We’re excited to play. Also, since Full House isn’t simply a new edition of the game but a full-on sequel, we’ve got the original game to look forward to if we like it!
Well, that Iwari KS Deluxe Ed was not being sold, and I approached the guy for an offer (mainly discount the shipping). We met in the middle (share the shipping), and now it is on my way…
If we add that Gamefound just told me that Bardsung is shipping, I think I will be sorted for 2022… Currently I have Townsfolk Tussle and Tiny Epic Dungeons on my way…
As is normal all the things arrived at once. So that was the Boardgametables Kickstarter with 4 games (3 from the KS itself and QE was available as addon I am so curious about this game) and the order I‘d been waffling about for a while with the puzzle I‘d been eyeing, a couple expansions to games we love and I decided on Marvel Splendor—since it is one of the few games my partner seems to really enjoy playing.
I already tried Factory Funner, learned most of the rules for Bear Raid, peeked into QE, played Marvel Splendor with my partner, noted that Concordia Solitaria is named wrongly because it is a 1-2 player mode (it allows adding the bot to 2 player and it has a 2 player coop/team mode! Yay!)
And I have made some progress on the puzzle. The first I am doing in 30+ years. I was curious if I would like it. I think I do.
The only problem is that when I’m at home I play solo, and when I’m out I normally play four or five player games, so I rarely get to play with two. (See also Onitama and Ashes.) But apart from that…
