Traded gajes for Confucius. Yep. What a beige game this one is.
Yes it was my inlawsā favourite game
I found Shadows over Normandie in a discount bin. Itāll probably never see an opponent, and the Heroes System isnāt amazing to two hand, but I just couldnāt resist.
We have been playing Nidavellir a bit lately, so I went ahead and grabbed Thingvellir at my FLGS.
I may have decided I needed to get rid of the money that collected on my paypal account from selling games. Oopsie.
- Expansion #1 for Roll for the Galaxy (will be needing some pointers for my partner on luck mitigation). I think this one is called āAmbitionā in English. The small one anyway.
- Atlantis Rising 2nd - I played the 1st edition ages ago. It was medium fun. But we are still short on coop games and many people seem to enjoy it this new version and the cover looks too gorgeous anyway. With all the selling Iāve been doing, if it fails to do what I want⦠it should be an easy one to move on.
- Formosa Tea - I noticed all my good worker placement games are Rosenbergs or Shem Philips. And I have been eyeing this for more than a year now. The price is good and I do not have enough tea games still.
- Whatnot Cabinet - I am hoping this is a small, light game. It looks pretty and it seems there will only be a short window of availability to try and see if I like this
- finally: Bullet. That one is on you peoples! Just so you know. I donāt even like realtime games or boss fights. But overall I like the theme and ideas and I have to support any games with that many female characters
- oops no: Lama Dice, this one is on SVWAG and after I saw this picture I had to have it.
I am trying not to buy all those tiny games that clog up the drawer and never get played much anywayā¦. But this one⦠rainbows and lamas how can I resist?
So this is a whole bunch of experimentation.
I have always said that money that didnāt came from my bank account isnāt part of the monthly budget
finally: Bullet. That one is on you peoples!
HAH!
In a fit of absolute frivolity, mostly fueled by a little remaining gift money, I have decided to take a Zombicide game for a spin, opting for Invader as my jump-in.
As it stands I have zero plans to paint these minis, and the game is ripe for a flip-less-rental-fee, but who knows, I could be surprised. Technically this edges in on Aliens, but Iām pretty confident this is going to scratch a much, much dumber itch.
I have also been lured into a purchase of Bullet . Along with Codex Naturalis, as itās pretty.
If that isnāt designed by Jeff Minter, it should be!
I own the original zombicide plus expansions which makes for three huge boxes⦠that have been played for plenty of fun cooperative zombie slaughter. but a smart game it is not. we havenāt touched the 2.0 upgrade or the campaign yet. and if i could go back and not buy the third box that would be fine too. but the first two have a good fun/price ratio. the third is just more of the same and ⦠we had enough already. my first big game Kickstarter though how could i not go all in
Was checking reviews on the last game I bought (Ghostbusters Blackout), and they mentioned a game called āBatman:The Animated Series - Gotham Ciy Under Seigeā, and one thing led to another, so I bought it. It has tiny buildings! Iām not made of stone!
My shopping spree arrived nicely together to make for a stack of new games so huge, I didnāt even want to take a picture of my consumerist shame.
So I ask my partner: āWhich should I open first? Which one are you interested in the most?ā And he goes: āAll of them!ā
So I first opened up the Roll expansion, saw that it was good and proceeded to open up Bullet. And I hand over the characters to him and he starts laughing at Adelheid Beckenbauer (this is the most ridiculous German name ever.) and then says: āOMG I love the art style this is modeled on those Japanese something something gamesā¦ā And there he lost me but if he likes the game as much as the art, it is definitely going to be a hit.
The bad news is the box cover of Formosa Tea has a ripped corner and with my recent sales experience and this being a bunch of experimental orders, I am unsure what to do. I have never returned a game. Usually with pieces missing or damaged I was able to get replacements⦠but a damaged box cover? (My copy of āAgent Undercoverā with the damaged box is not finding takers. And neither is Chronicles of Crime with a missing QR code card we were too lazy to ask for a replacement for) Formosa Tea is from a very big online shop on the one hand so returning would probably not be an issue or ruin their bottom line also I am a regular customer of theirs in the past couple of years. But the corner is easily stabilized with some tape and I personally donāt mind less-than-pristine games, too much⦠but but but⦠thoughts, anyone?
Itās probably worth dropping them a message and see if theyāll do you a partial refund. It would save them the hassle of sorting shipping for a replacement and then having to try and sell a damaged copy.
I buy a fair amount of games that got damaged before arriving at the retailer as itās a pretty good way to get a discount (theyāre usually just stuff like a crushed corner or a dent in the back, though how ripped up my copy of the Estates was just made me laugh). Itās how I ended up with Bullet - going down from Ā£32 to Ā£25 took me from āinterestedā to ābuyingā (along with people talking about it on here).
I feel for you on the box damage. I find usually if thereās a slightly dinged/smooshed corner or something, the resale value will largely be retained, but a big tear is definitely something that will make a sale harder, for one, and devalue it as well.
My copy of Cloudspire had sneaky box damage, with one of the inner box corners completely blown out (youād never know until you got it home). I inquired with Chip Theory who confirmed they could only offer fixes (this is totally reasonable to me, shipping a new box to me would be catastrophic to their bottom line if it were standard protocol).
Thankfully, my damage doesnāt involve any tears (the glue error helped here) and I should be able to make a pretty clean fix, but if yours is also cosmetic⦠Iād certainly be asking what theyād be willing to do for me. Iām guessing if I had presented images to Chip Theory that showed irreparable damage theyād have offered a full replacement (of the box).
And it is not superficial, it is completely torn. If I didnāt consider resale value I would just tape it with clear tape from both sides. Bottom also has dinged corner but at least no tear.
Oof, yeah thatās a devaluing tear for sure. Worth inquiring I think, but Iād go in expecting a āsorry we couldnāt do moreā just to avoid more disappointment.
Been hunting for a while and finally pulled the trigger on a copy of Lemminge ā in Croatia (via BGG GeekMarket). Now I wait.
Cascadia arrived (in the UK)! The production quality is off the scale. Box is gorgeous, insert has a section that perfectly holds all the hexagonal tiles in a stack, the round wooden wildlife tokens are of an adorable chunkiness and size. Looks fab.
Also gets points for having a very easy to understand rulebook. I could teach this to just about anyone in 5 mins.
Well, Lautapelit.fi has cancelled my order because I donāt live in one of the 46 states that Funagain is willing to fulfill to. My father lives in a different state⦠but that one isnāt on of the 46 either.
I guess Iāll hope to find a copy when it actually lands.
