I’m pretty excited for the new edition of Tyrants and Dune: A Game of Conquest and Diplomacy. I did t expect to care about the new edition of Dune, but I’ve seen a breakdown of just how much streamlining they’ve done, plus it seems they’ve really put work into the 2p game I’ll probably be grabbing that as well. The price point for both is really solid too; $45 CDN for preorder on both.

We’re also all-in for Unmatched. Speaking of, have you seen the fighters for Battle of Legends Vol. 2? Looks really fun, especially Bloody Mary!!

No they can’t, but it would help if I actually tried! Haha

That sounds similar to my pile, lol.

I have a handful of small box games that will likely be donated to a Library as shipping them just wouldn’t be worth it, but also some big box games (Scythe, Conan, etc) and some KS games I’d like to actually sell for something.

No! I missed the announcements Restoration made on the 7th and haven’t had the chance to look into them. Other than Yennega, who had been announced a while ago.

Yennega
Sun Wukong
Achilles
Bloody Mary

Comments when it was released about Bloody Mary compared her to Invisible Man, so she could be a top for us.

The only downside of the game for my son and I is we both do great with fast or ranged characters, and struggle with the slower heavy hitters so some characters just see less play.

Equally diligent at grabbing cheap games though…

Am I the only one who went the Exceed route rather than Unmatched for the “fighter mashup” slot on the shelf? Any other Exceed players? Battlecon?

I have some older editions of BattleCON: Fate and BattleCON: War, and then I picked up BattleCON: Devastation 4th Edition recently. I also have quite a bit of Unmatched stuff, but it’s still unplayed due to the pandemic (my primary gaming opponent and I are working on getting game nights started up again).

I did a full-on @pillbox. Someone was getting rid of their entire boardgame collection in one of those Facebook groups, but this wasn’t the usual fair. Either it was an older collector or someone really interested in older games. We’re talking about a signed first edition of Die Macher, the really obscure, limited first editions of some Friedemann Friese games, such as Fresh Fish and Funkenschlag (predecessor to Power Grid). Also, prices were ridiculously low, e.g. a second edition copy of Roads & Boats for 15€ (you can see where this is going …). I cautiously asked them, whether they were sure about those prices, and they responded that they were well aware that some of those games were worth a lot more, but they just wanted them gone. Well, I made another exception to my buying hiatus and got all of those games (and one or two more) for an extremely reasonable price. I expect some components to be missing, but I don’t worry about that too much. There were several other OOP games, that usually go for triple digits, sold for 10-20€. The seller was pretty much steamrolled by requests and it took them a couple of days to sort everything out, so I’m really glad I got what I got.

So yeah, the pillbox thing. Do I already have the Roads & Boats Anniversary Edition? Sure. Have I played it multiplayer yet? Nope. Solo? Only if half a learning game counts. Do I like it? Maybe?! So I really have no excuse, except that it was a very good deal. Still happy with it though!

I have only ever played Funkenschlag  Power Grid? What is that  But it has been years. Die Macher 1st edition is rare! Although I would really like the updated Spielworxx version I admit.

Confusingly Power Grid in German is also called Funkenschlag, although Power Grid is basically Funkenschlag 2. The old game seems to have a crayon rails style map. I’m intrigued!

I really need to check with the owners of the game which one we played. As I said years… I assume they still have it though they are not usually cleaning out their collection.

Closest I get is Sakura Arms and there I’m waiting for the Kickstarter. (Thanks SVWAG.)

The shop that I’ve been eyeing for Imperium Classics/Legends just got Too Many Bones in… someone stop me.

How often do you really need to play games in the hot tub anyway?

Wait, you can play games in places other than a hot tub?

Actually right now it is raining so much here that the whole country qualifies as a tub -.-

Considering the price: only worth it if played repeatedly. @EnterTheWyvern 's copy got a good plays/price rate.

@yashima it’s really expensive. Especially as if you like it there’s lots of expensive add on content for it. Age of Tyranny is an expansion I wouldn’t be without despite not playing the campaign. So that’s a ton of money for the first 3 days variety cards, arguably too much.

As Mr Verde says, I’ve played it loads so the price per play isn’t as bad as it could be. Still ain’t cheap though. Total cost is over 500euros maybe 30 plays so far so a bit over €16 per play. I will for sure play it loads more though. I love that game and in an outdoor covid times game session in the rain it being waterproof was a relaxing bonus.

Cons
€500+ ,
box doesn’t fit in a kallax cube

Pros
amazing game,
inbuilt organiser speeds set up and has lots of room for the expansions

Edit: pros and cons

The price is a bit steep that is true. I was not planning on acquiring any expansions without having some idea how much I like the game. I wonder at how much of a loss I would be if I sold it again after a few plays if it doesn‘t fit. In other news my bday is coming up week after next and I expect my town is going back into lockdown soon because of a few idiots (about 200) and one idiotic club owner and so I am off to FLGS before I have to call ahead again.

Lots of people predicted Sun Wukong would show up, so I’m sure they’re happy about this.
