I actually bought a non-RPG game! Been meaning to pick up Nuclear War for years, and with Flying Buffalo in the process of being sold I decided to order a copy of the 50th anniversary edition from Spirit Games, as I might regret not doing so should supplies dry up.
Quick, simple and frequently everybody loses. Sounds perfect for me.
Funny. That, along with Nuclear Proliferation, are on my “to be culled” list, whenever I get around to doing such things. Bought it in high school after we had a lot of fun with it at our gaming club, but it never really shined in any of the times I played it afterward. Though I still love getting “change” for a population card.
Well my copies of the expansions (+metal coins) for Belfort turned up the other day (after a much delayed kickstarter) and it all looks great. Super keen to get it to the table, it’s been awhile. Now of course, the sensible thing to do would be to reacquaint ourselves with the base game before adding all the expansions… So maybe just a couple of expansions…?
Tucked away in one of those weirdly-particular corners of Unicode (where something curiously specific fails to be accompanied by any of the more-general variants one anticipates), I see we have:
I had a reason to head into Wal-Mart today, something I try to avoid, but happened to notice they had several games on clearance sale, notably a bunch of Funko/Ravensburger titles. I’m guessing they’ve decided to bail on games or something because Marvel United was under clearance as well.
Anyway to the point, Godzilla: Tokyo Clash was among those on sale and I had been waiting for an excuse to give it a go. Half-off seemed about as good as it gets.
I have to say, as a mass market game I’m really impressed with the overall quality of the production. Nothing is especially nice, but the tiles are good, the cards are WAY better than I anticipated, and the minis aren’t even half bad. The rules are a snap, so hopefully I can rope in my nephews for a little slugfest in the near future.
Oh, and it leans into the old 60’s era of the films, which is just dandy by me.
Most recently, I bought four games on a Miniature Market sale. King’s Dilemma , Beyond the Sun, Tournament at Camelot and Vampire The Masquerade: Vendetta.
And, like, right before that I bought Forgotten Waters.
The other four just arrived today, but I have played Forgotten Waters twice since buying it. On TTS. Tried and failed to get people to come over in person. But, oh man, so far I love it.
Really looking forward to the other games, though I know King’s Dilemma will take a bit to organize before I actually get to it.
