I bought trans europa after the last WEM bgg video on trans America (I think Europe’s more Inuitive geography will make it better for us)

I had a preorder at Meeples Corner for £60

BGG pointed me to a sale at John Lewis of all places, so I picked up Marvel Villainous for £25. And a jigsaw.

Forgotten Waters is great fun, should play it again, we went thru all the included sheets, have to download and print some more.

And dont get me started about Beyond the Sun - I ordered it from Amazon a month ago, its still showing as "in stock’. I emailed them, and they said it wasnt available in the warehouse for shipping to Australia. Usually Amazon are pretty good, stuff ships within a day of the order. I’d cancel and buy it locally, but no one has any stock.

I finally bought Roll for the Galaxy and an expansion to A Wonderful Life because ordering for just a single box is impossible.

Both are great life choices!

Indirectly… bought. I am assuming one of my preorders will ship soon and maybe some of you would like to know that Search for Planet X is coming back in stock (or at least at that one OGS, I am sure boardgameprices.co.uk will help you find a place if you are interested)

edit: yes, I got the notification that it will arrive tomorrow or Saturday  Yay!

“Groovy, isn’t it?”

Well, it’s not a board game, but I did just buy a Kallax to stuff them all in

Went with a 5x5 as it fit nicely in the space we’re gonna put it.

Managed to find Forgotten Waters new at £10-£20 off the normal UK price, so clicked that fast.

In need of compensation for stressful times, I ordered what has to be the last copy of Honey Buzz on the continent from an OGS in the Netherlands and I added in Medici the Dice Game because they had it and it didn’t change shipping and my more local OGS do not have it yet.

Ashes Reborn Upgrade Pack arrived today. I still don’t ever intend to get into serious competition with this, but my understanding is that there are significant gameplay improvements. (Also I can have fun sorting the new cards into my existing set, which is basically all the old material except for the promos.)

We haven’t had a chance to play since the upgrade pack arrived, but from skimming the rules and checking out the cards there are a lot of really positive changes.

The most important one for me was the change to combat that basically removes the chances of a long drawn stalemate.

A lot of the wording is also cleaned up, and many characters have their summons reduced. Probably for balancing.

They also completely removed Mounts from the game.

As an aside, if you kept the cards as pre-cons, it’s a surprisingly quick and easy process. Though as others have mentioned, there is no indication on the new cards that they are 1.5 so just don’t get distracted! :slightly_smiling_face:

FWIW, Ambition is inexpensive and, I think, considered an almost necessary patch to the base game. Not NECESSARY, but a strict improvement that, once added, is never removed.

Rivalry is more the traditional expansion that tweaks the game and introduces side-games to change the flavor and up the complexity, and is the truly optional one that is only for dedicated, frequent players.

Review: Roll for the Galaxy: Rivalry (discusses both)

Agree on all accounts.

Rivalry is the most bonkers expansion around - Lehmann’s blank cheque project. Adds so much complication and complex manufacturing components that makes it far more expensive than the base game. And the trading variant?! It’s just so strange. It’s probably the least necessary expansion around, and I love it.

Roll base alone has it charms though. I don’t think faster progression is necessarily a good thing for a tableau builder. The orb variant in Rivalry very quickly drives ridiculous growth to the point where the wheels fall off the cart. Not quite being able to afford the next thing is important to a tableau builder. If you can get everything and it’s just a race to the end, it doesn’t feel as satisfying.

Ambition is a nice expansion that adds stuff and variety without feeling crazily different.

Went to a sale at my FLGS to pick up Feudum and left with this instead:

It is a cross between Wacky Races and Mille Bornes with some Mad Max thrown in. It’ll make for some good one-game-before-bedtime sessions with the kids.

Thanks to a tip by @lalunaverde and my good fortune of knowing someone traveling from Paris to my hometown last week, I got the closest I’ll ever get to employing a drug mule and am now the proud owner of this rarity:

My FLGS is having a 4th of July sale, so stopped by and picked up Dutch Blitz for $10 and the Nathaniel Cho Investigator pack for Arkham Horror TCG.

I used to work for Big Pharma Corp and once had to fly from London to Amsterdam with polythene bags of milk powder to test that a laser could accurately measure the size of the milk powder.

…I had a letter from my boss, which I hoped would be enough to keep me out of jail.
