I figured RossM’s deployment of a soldier to the Severe one meant they might be lining up a drone strike.
I am lining up a drone strike. If anyone can spare a soldier for it that would be most helpful.
…which also means it’s a good place to dump your bad cards.
Ok - makes sense!
For clarity on the order of events: you analyse Imminent Threats before you move old ones up and add new ones. So during the player phase of round 2, the current Severe threat will be Imminent; then before round 3 it will be resolved. (There are occasional exceptions to this.)
(Chewy77 has had to be away for a couple of days and is catching up.)
I place two intel cards under the severe and guarded cases.
Ok, so can I recruit an agent and place an agent on the severe threat? Do I need to put one of my cards under it before or after I have a look at the threat?
Any order is fine.
Could you spare a soldier as well for the most imminent threat?
In all fairness, I think my intel card should deal with it instead, plus I am already placing an agent there. Putting a soldier will leave me with no intel cards to discard, so I am afraid I cannot.
I am discarding a Misleading subterfuge card (-1) for 1 rep, taking the lead on Sectarian Insurgents, placing intel cards under Sectarian Insurgents and Political Splinter Group, placing an agent there, so I will have a peek at the card.
So here’s the round 1 log:
- RossM
discard Sleeper -5 for 3 rep
recruit an asset, discarding Elizabeth Chu
add a soldier to Severe-1 Political Splinter Group, not looking at or adding intel
add an agent to Guarded-1 Political Splinter Group, looking at back of Plot card
claim Low-1 / Radicalized Local Militia and play to it - DJCT
discard Misleading Subterfuge -1 for 1 rep
recruit an asset, discarding Aileen Morgan
claim Severe-1 / Political Splinter Group and play to it
play to Low-1 / Radicalized Local Militia - Assussanni
add an agent to Guarded-1 Political Splinter Group, looking at back of Plot card
recruit an agent
claim Guarded-1 Political Splinter Group and play to it
play to Low-1 / Radicalized Local Militia - Chewy77
Claim Guarded-2 Sectarian Insurgents
Play intel to Guarded-2 Sectarian Insurgents
Play intel to Severe-1 Political Splinter Group
Discard Misleading Subterfuge -1 for 1 Rep
Recruit an agent
Play an agent to Severe-1, and look at the Plot

No threats to resolve now.
Four new threats appear: two Abu Nazir threats (“a high-ranking member of al-Qaeda”), two Militant Separatists.

@DJCT to play.
Do new plots start with one intel card on them?
Yes, each new threat gets a random, hidden Intel card.
What are we thinking re: drone strikes this round?
We’ve got the soldiers and I’ve got the asset to stop them.
I am last in turn order.
I am up first. Any suggestions?
Note that a single Drone Strike-capable asset can conduct as many drone strikes as they like in a single activation, as long as each target has the requisite two soldiers on it.
How do you feel about the Imminent case that you currently have? Do you think you are in a good place to foil it or would you prefer that RossM drone strikes it?
If you pop a soldier on the top threat with one soldier on it already that’s guaranteed to be removed by me this turn.
I’d imagine a drone strike as I think it tough. What about the other imminent one?
It’s the easiest option and it’s guaranteed shrug ![]()
We can drone strike both if we’re willing to commit all our soldiers. I don’t think it’s a terrible plan, although it will leave us without unless we recruit some more.
