Blood on the Clocktower, Discussion & Travellers Rest

Yeah, playing team evil there was a fair bit of luck in that we barely needed to intervene with all the crazy stuff going on. I was centre of attention from fairly early on, but the other two could sit back and watch for the most part until it got down to 6 players or so.

If Maestro had picked up attention early on it would have been a very different game, since the first half of the game seemed to be about killing anyone with any suspicion at all to be on the safe side. It was only when the traveller showed up that the game really began.

(My answer would also be, If depends on what the story teller does.)

One of my difficulties with playing asynchronously is that there’s no need for anyone who isn’t directly involved to speak up. Is that person away from their keyboard? Are they intentionally quiet to avoid flak?

When in person, staying quiet for 3 rounds is just as suspicious as talking lots, but a lot of that information is lost in the PBF. Ultimately I think that means the presence of information carries a lot more of the game than the absence of information. If there’s even the slightest rumour about someone, get rid because it’s the only thing to go on and it’s not worth the risk.

The voting also becomes a lot more strategic in orders. I think a lot of the votes would turn out completely different if we stuck to circle order (although it would add a lot of time).

It seems like social deduction skews a lot to deduction in written form and a lot more to social and understanding communication and body language when playing live.

I think the not knowing why someone is being quiet favors team evil.

No worries. At least from that early on I knew GabrielH was not to be trusted (either drunk or evil). How much was that of help… I don’t know. I was convinced getting Assussani killed would get us somewhere, while COMaestro flew under the radar… I thought RossM was evil and we had him and KIR2 in the sack… I was wrong and it cost us the game

Some of that was in the setup: I made sure there was a reasonably but not entirely consistent combination of false targets.

I chose the Traveller as good.

My only other ongoing influence was on the Drunk Empath’s readings, where I wanted to make sure they were always consistent (otherwise they could work out too easily that they were drunk).

Yes, I think that’s fair.

This is funny as last game I tried inconsistent information when team good killed their main information giver early on so that the drunk would know and I think (sorry if I’m wrong) that @Captbnut thought he was poisoned instead.

Although the whole Ross vs the Captain thing in the last game grew arms and legs.

The other thing that got me confused is if there is some sort of protocol on the whispers. I whispered a lot to start with, as being the butler I needed to know who to trust, and it earned me a lot of distrust. Even though I was just whispering to close neighbours.
I thought it made sense to whisper to close players, but looks like whispering you are on team good without saying what is your role is a capital sin…

The “I’m evil so I will barely participate” is definitely a flaw in this format.

But, in this case, I looked for it and that’s why I was suspicious of both COMaestro and Assussanni, especially after their little slayer theatre piece.

Whispers are fine unless there is a smoking gun. In which case @GabrielH and I provided this.

To be fair I was totally lost as to who was good and evil and as such I think I accused everyone even those that were spectating. Although come to think of it …

It was largely due to the roles; neither Baron nor Scarlet Woman need to really say anything, whereas if we’d had a Spy…

Yes, it seems a shame for both the Team Evil roles to have been basically passive ones.

I would like to add the following as it is not in game related (and should have done this here previously): I do not want to make any more badly worded posts until I am back home. On my mobile devices I am not adequately equipped to keep track of the game like I want to. I will be back home Sunday Night MET. I will be able to participate better(???) then.

I am back at work and thus back at my browser and keyboard. Sorry about the hickup. I had hoped that the driving days of our trip would have better timing.
