Blood on the Clocktower, Discussion & Travellers Rest

They always take it too far in the sequel, don’t they?

Maybe it’ll be a trilogy though?

So the first one is exciting and new, the middle part is a bit boring (is it?) and doesn’t really have a grand finale and then comes part three where all the plotlines have to somehow fit into 2 hours, but don’t, the characters’ motivations stop making sense and the movie gets too long and the ending is a bit far fetched and includes a healthy does of Deux Ex to make it all fit.

Don’t forget the time travel.

And the resurrection of characters we all thought died in part 1.

…but with a goatee.

That’ll be Sects and Violets then.

Ah, the game has moved into “the walls are closing in” phase. :smiling_imp:

I do find it fascinating to see that this comes so “suddenly”

I am intensely curious how the remainder of this plays out

That murder being the main cause and solution for the towns problems seems in hindsight shortsighted.

This is why I moved out of ‘Murdertown’. Not that it helped…

My hot take: Democracy is broken if it relies on killing over half the population to identify a single individual. :man_shrugging:

I am desperate to see how this plays out in the end.

I’m really excited actually, I thought I wasn’t enjoying the actual game part but this finale has been the best kind of nail biting.

Yeah, I felt a bit less engaged the last day cycle but now it’s down to the crunch I’m all in to find out who has been telling me cheeky little lies?

Those who have played this more than me… is the game skewed towards evil? I do not feel like it it is and I only have a sample of 2… but is it harder for Team Good to win?

I think I have played this 5 times now, and I know Evil won at least 3 of the games and Good 1. I can’t remember the third game on the old forums very well, which used the Sects and Violets setup, which has some of the craziest roles. I can’t even remember which role I had, other than I was Good that game. It was just a complete mindf**k.

So, I cannot say with any certainty whether or not the game skews one way or the other. I do think Good was hindered in both of the games here in not having an Undertaker, which can reveal the roles of Executed people. Then, at the same time, we have not had a Poisoner here, which causes a ton of uncertainty and confusion.

The impression I get (with this and The Resistance) is that evil is more prone to win with new players and it gets more even with experience. But I don’t have numbers to back that up.

I’ve played it twice now, and evil won both times. Both because of me :man_facepalming: Look, just because I’m not evil, doesn’t mean I’m not a bad person!

Most of the games I’ve seen have been on youtube, and while Evil did well that was a) The storyteller actively choosing deceits that would prolong the game, and b) one of team evil just being really damn good at lying and strategy.

I’ve definitely seen games where team evil is in trouble by turn two. On the other hand, if team good have little info at the start and what they latch onto is a drunk, it’s much harder. So I was surprised at how little anyone knew right to the end of this game - evil took some skill to juggle the votes.

I think there is an element of luck on how the game balance which is where the story teller role is really important and the distinguishing characteristic of this vs werewolf. For instance DJCT scanning Ross is almost completely out of the storytellers control.

But the obvious counter point is land mines from the storyteller (secretly :imp:?) Like having our drunk empath corroborate the wrong character in my 50/50 scan. I jumped inTo that one with both feet. Sorry @Chewy77.

I’m curious what balancing @RogerBW did as the game progressed.
