It is on BGA … very good implementation, including the solo mode which gives a good mechanical impression. the multiplayer plays a bit differently of course and is a bit harder
Any insight on what this entails?
Base game has three decks.
I have two expansions, which are just two additional decks.
The description lists two more decks, if someone actually needed seven decks? (I’ve only cracked 2 so far, you don’t see every card every game anyway, and it seems to be a game that benefits from learning the deck rather than always finding something new)
And then it cryptically says “…along with extra components, among them new guest meeples”
What are these extra components? What are guest meeples? It seems to me this would be the most important item to sell this big box yet it remains the vaguest described.
One of the new decks introduces a mechanism that involves meeples somehow, I believe.
I’ve always been tempted by more decks for Nusfjord, but I don’t really know why, as three is plenty. Heck, one would probably be enough!
I hear someone has bought the Big Box already, maybe that person will possibly post some unboxing pics here on the forums… you know who you are… show us pics!
Yeah, I don’t need any more Nusfjord. But it looks like $20 will get me decks 6 and 7 along with those cryptic Extra Components and Guest Meeples.
My completionist imp is whispering and I think I’m going to lose this battle in the next 48 hours.
I built an insert for my box. I will only be getting the extra decks. I missed the plaice deck back when so I‘ll be getting it all. The big box cover is pretty but… nope.
I’m a bit frustrated that the old expansion decks plus the new ones total almost the exact same price as the big box (in the RRP currently listed on some UK shops).
This means I’ll probably replace my game and sell/donate my old one, which seems wasteful, but why not give someone else the chance to enjoy the base game if it’s the same cost to me?
I paid 35 for the game and 26 for the first two expansions. So up to 82 for the whole shebang if I grab the final expansions. Win some lose some, I have had good play of this one in the intervening time.
It does feel good to come late to a party, though, and get it all at the bundle price. I got Hansa that way, and recently found Lorenzo Il Magnifico big box for something like $30.
Win some lose some.
Big boxes are often worse, practically speaking. For example, I’m happier with my expensively-purchased Mage Knight and 3 expansions than I would be if I had the Ultimate edition, even though financially it would make no sense to buy anything other than UE these days.
(With the caveat that the UE is no longer “ultimate”, and the base game box might not fit the upcoming expansion.)
Even though I’ve just pointed out that I don’t need them at all, realistically I’ll probably try to get the plaice/salmon decks pack when it comes out, as I’ve wanted them since I heard they existed.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll be putting the big box contents in the original box and giving the base game away in the big box! No room for big boxes. I might even cut down the base game box to make it smaller if there’s scope! Storage woes aplenty these days and no chance of more shelves until my 4yo moves out.
What does the 4yo think about living in their very own Big Box garden apartment complex?
Looks as if Frag has got a new edition… sort of.
I see nothing to suggest that it’s actually been updated, either here or in the release announcement, and you’d think they’d mention that if it had. Still, the version I owned some years ago did at least come with dice.
The best game ever is getting a reprint! (JK. The Great Zimbabwe is the best game ever)
I just saw that the 10 year anniversary edition of Patchwork that will be out in October/SPIEL has 1 or 2 players listed. Patchwork Specials: 10 Year Anniversary Edition (German edition) | Board Game Version | BoardGameGeek
It’s an automa. But we don’t currently own any edition because I have doubts that my partner would enjoy this as much as me. So it was never worth getting it even though boardgame tetris.

If you don’t like BTS (not the boyband) because of the Space theme, what about old history times?
What’s up with the spin-offs? Seems like a risk-averse decision.
I like BtS (not the boyband) … need to play this.
BtS is Behind the Scenes, everyone knows this.
Anyway I thought on the theme thread we established Space > earthy stuff
I disliked BtSun, but I wasn’t sure if it was a soulless optimization puzzle, or because I played on a computer (which I’ve found to not enjoy very much).
I’m a little surprised there’s no solo-mode from the get-go in BtHorizon.
Vantage looks interesting.
I don’t really go looking for new games - the last thing I need is more boardgame temptation - but occasionally something catches my eye. And this looks intriguing.
