new ethnos redo:
Seems like an “Indiana Jones”-esque re-theme, as the comments thread notes.
Ryan Courtney making games with Spielworxx:
Admittedly, I have not yet played any of his games… missed out on Pipeline, never got the Cargo thing, Bear Raid is 3+ and thus sits on my shelf of shame and Trailblazers has yet to deliver.
But the first game planned is about software engineers and programming…. so that sounds interesting. I do hope they find a good illustrator. (I am looking at Oranienburger Kanal as I write this)
Wow! It’s actually happening???
Just saw this on watch it played news…
This looks mad
A game with a sort of roulette thing.
Start them young
Oooh, cooperative Unmatched! Color me interested.
Tesla included!
I’m always up for stuff that mines the wealth of material from early comics/pulp heroes.
Oooh, finally I’ll get some use out of my existing Unmatched boxes.
I hope the price is reasonable.
Beyond the Sun expansion rulebook is up. Two leaders you draft at the start for some asymmetric powers, some v2 cards, two new faction mats and a solo mode. For $40. Not sure I’ll be rushing to buy it.
Apparently Paolo Mori has regained the rights to Dogs of War and is looking for a publisher for a new edition
My memory of Dogs of War is that it was a decent game with a lavish production. It’ll be interesting to see whether it’ll be a straight reprint from a different company (like what happened with the 3rd and 4th edition of Fury of Dracula) or a brand new production.
It’s a game I love that I never get to play, because it’s so absurdly huge for what it is. If you want to take it somewhere, you need to be definitely going to play it and nothing else.
Precisely why I sold it. I think it was the biggest box I owned by volume. I wonder if they strip it down to a Caesar / Blizkrieg style production it’ll lose some of its lustre.
Bitewing Games has contacted him. According to one of the owners on Reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/boardgames/comments/11gz7yr/a_new_edition_of_dogs_of_war_searching_for_a/jarkq7h/
Oh, that could be a great publisher to make a nice, tight package. I’ve always avoided Dogs of War because it looks like a lot of stuff I don’t need to bother myself with, but then I started listening to SVWAG and they praise the game so much I feel like I should give it another look if it comes back around.
Dogs of War is probably my favourite Cmon game (ok, that and Cthulhu: Death May Die). It’s ridiculously overproduced, but it’s a very elegant design, imo. If you want player interaction, this is the game for you. You’ll be cooperating with someone in one battle, and opposing them in another. Even the stuff you can’t get anymore can be used, all you need are the rules for them.
I’d be happy if it got a reprint so people could play it. I recommend it a lot, and it’s a shame you can’t get it.
Was there a big box version or something? It’s a slightly bigger box than a standard game, but not huge.
BGG has it at 30cm x 30cm x 10.5cm. In terms of volume, it is the biggest single boxed game I’ve owned (bigger than the Matagot wargames). For a game that you could comfortably design to fit a Whitehall Mystery or even a Codenames-sized box, that’s enormous.
Ok, the box is bigger than it needs to be just to hold the (overproduced) minis. I guess I’ve never thought of it as huge. But bigger than Codenames, sure. On my shelf, it’s only slightly bigger than Heat. And not as big as Lancaster Big Box, Oath, Wonderlands War, Seal Team Flix.
