Bonus points because I only just noticed that the cards in the middle picture have place names that are ALL other board games.
My partner‘s comment: „Why do they have cards from other games?“
(I had only seen Nusfjord and was immediately suspicious)
I can’t help but feel this is a gimmick turned up to 11, how does it achieve the design goals better than a map?
Much as I love Canvas (and I think the expansion will add enough that it becomes light-medium instead of very lightweight), it is entirely possible that they’d go for gimmicks over strong gameplay.
Looking at the long lines drawn on the globes, maybe you have to connect locations without crossing your own lines? And that only works on a globe and not a 2D map?
I wonder if you’re meant to pick up the globes without rubbing everything off.
Saw this on some thread yesterday: Legacy of Yu | Board Game | BoardGameGeek
Shem Philips does a dedicated solo (short) campaign game. Want.
I’ve never liked the art in any of Shem’s games (that I’ve seen), which is part of the reason why I’ve never been tempted to buy them; but the sample cards for Legacy of Yu look lovely.
Normally The Miko does the art. This is Shem Philips himself apparently.
Sam Phillips, in fact. This article states that Sam is Shem’s brother, although I haven’t spotted anything official which says the same.
Looks a lot like the art from the raiders of Scythia
SI expansion which make the promos easy to get: Spirit Island: Feather & Flame
This would have been helpful last year…
Oh well, if it lets more people get the promos, that’s a good thing.
It was primarily produced, I think, for non-US folks to have an easier time getting ahold of them, since they are regularly available directly from the publisher but without international-friendly shipping options.
A date for the preorder for JoCo 2 (DE) is at last announced. March 10
this is when localization starts which must mean that the game is finalized and about to go into production is my guess.
Also, Feuerland (who else) is doing the German release for the new Libertalia so I guess I*ll be getting that after seeing that there is plenty of text on the cards and how some of my friends still try to avoid English on the game table… plus I am in no hurry to get the game.
I nearly did a direct Stonemaier preorder for Libertalia. But I’ll just wait for in inevitable deal-of-the-day on one of the OGS sites
Ooh, the first two Marvel sets for Unmatched, Hell’s Kitchen and Redemption Row, go on sale on Restoration Games’ web store on Monday! And ship right away, from the sound of things, though the street date is not until April.
Just saw the first preorder for Ra (for September)–considering we talked about the whole issue that this one will not hit the German market, I think I’ll hit that preorder button sometime soon.
Still no sign of JoCo 2 (DE) grml grml.
Also preorder for 2nd edition for Dwellings of Eldervale (November?). I have the KS version, haven’t played in a while. But if there is sufficient interest on feedback about the game, I could play a couple of solos. Definitely not going on my sell list anytime soon despite some initial disappointment after it arrived. But this was my first really big KS and I fell for all the hype of the KS and no game can live up to what some Kickstarters do during their campaigns. It’s a solid game–and I really want to find the time to bring it to a big multiplayer round. But pandemic prevented me up to now from doing this (and having too many other games)
Funnily enough on today’s jo co 2 update:
“Drew and I have switched gears to look at new projects, and I’ve been kicking off the process of localizing John Company in other languages.”
