I live on the West side so I have no recent experience with the DLR. 
The last time I used it was to go to ExCel for MCM Comic Con eons ago.

When I worked in East London a lot, I used the DLR and didn’t particularly notice it as being particularly slow? Or is that just cos I read a lot on trains and never really noticed…

Slower than the Underground, but less space between stations, so that was inevitable. But with the early stock you could sit in the front and pretend to be driving. I still can’t believe they removed this universally-loved feature.
