Where on Earth are you!? Show us the sights from your part of the world

And yet, no pictures. :stuck_out_tongue:

Lots of Playte, Oink, and Itten titles. Haggis and Tricktakers from the Portland Game Collective. Shipwreck Arcana. Molly House including the metall figures… a very nice selection of various playing card decks and not just bicycle. And a great selection of jigsaw puzzles as well.

Quite a few games I have never seen in a local boardgame store and many of them also mostly not even online. (gamesweb.dk)

And unlike food prices (WTF?!?! is Germany so cheap?) the boardgame prices were okay. I payed less for My Favorite Things than I would have at crowdfinder.be if it were still available there.

I read now that Kopenhagen is one of the most expensive cities in Europe and even the world. I had no idea. Maybe it is good that we are only staying 2 (basically 1 full day in the city) nights. Though there are tons more things I would like to see: the Design Museum, several art museums (I‘d be interested in the Glyptothek which seemed to have Degas and Gauguin featured atm, but we got there an hour before closing and I didn‘t want to have to rush), a famous zoo and a big aquarium… we‘ll return and be better prepared for the food prices.

It’s a standard piece of travel advice that eating in Scandiwegia, and especially in Finland, is expensive. True if you eat out a lot or buy imported food, but if you’re happy with local produce and the restaurants the locals go to (often Chinese for some reason, which is subtly different from a Chinese restaurant in England), it’s a lot cheaper.

Nice! And I have to agree, lots of games I don’t recognize, as well as plenty that I do. Looks like a wonderful (and potentially dangerous) place to visit!

we have been to Norway and to Iceland and Kopenhagen beats those by a good margin. We had quite good Dim Sum tonight (Din Tai Fung which my friend took us to in Portland is obviously miles better) but it was still quite expensive. We probably managed to select expensive places even in an expensive city and dividing the krona prices by 7 to get the euro estimate proves a challenge we are not used to anymore.

We are going to Norway next week, are you staying in Sweden for your trip?

originally we were going to Norway for the whole trip (Lofoten and Tromsø) but one thing came to another and we didn’t get it organized. so decided on Sweden instead. We have a house for a week near Kalmar and then 4 nights we haven’t planned yet to explore more of the south and then one night with friends and then back home. right now we are on our way to Malmö by train. there we will pick up our rental car.

That would have been way more to the North than where we are going (flying to Bergen and leaving from Oslo while exploring the country in a rental in between).
I totally get that with the organizing, it stresses me out a bit tbh. There is just so much to do, so many things which seem interesting.
So we booked hotels for two nights in Bergen and two nights in Oslo and have a rental. I even came up with a route to take but the amount of things you can do is almost overwhelming  .
Right now I am just coming up with things to do on the way and put them in a list.
I think we have to be flexible with booking hotels on the go. Because I have no idea how long we want to stay in these different areas.
It all looks very beautiful, I hope for no rain and am very excited. My first time in Norway.

Oslo has some excellent maritime museums. The Kon-Tiki museum, Fram museum, and Viking Ship museum are particularly fine.

Just south of Bergen was a very beautiful island I had considered for this trip. We briefly thought about doing a trip along the southern coast from Oslo to Bergen and taking the train in between (the trainride is supposed to be one of the most beautiful ones)

Bergen is quite cute. Lots of cruise ships when we visited. Good coffee

Was in the very shop last year - had a week in Copenhagen and a week an hour south. And yes food is very expensive!

also I already have 2 apps for electric charging stations… it‘s our first time with an electric car  since our old car was old… it is really strange to be driving a modern car and then add the electric. but it worked really well, we charged up while we were at a supermarket. we can probably charge up when we go to dinner…

We’re back at Hadrian’s wall this weekend for more walking, this time featuring some actual wall:

This is milecastle 42, for anyone who wants to look it up on an OS map.

The scenery on this part of the trail is very craggy - there’s a section where the wall runs along an escarpment, because nothing says “**** off” like a 6m wall at the top of a sheer rock face.

There are quite a few little “honesty huts” along the route that have drinks and snacks for sale, and given the weather yesterday (and the weather in Northumberland in general) I have to admire whoever runs this one:

Thanks a lot, the Fram museum was already on my list. It seems the Viking Ship museum is closed from 2021 till 2027.

But the Kon-Tiki one was not on my radar, it will go on the possible things to do.

We considered the train ride too because of what we heard but then decided for a different way. Though we will ride the Flam train for a 2h roundtrip, which seems to be very beautiful, so at least some trains are involved

I heard good things about Bergen, my wife loves coffee, so that’s good news!

There are hundreds of islands around Bergen, I hope we find the time to explore them a bit

Viva Calle San Jose
The route was along a major road through the east side suburbs. I had to ride ~10 miles just to get to one end of the route. The route itself was ~5 miles. My earbuds fell out of my pocket somewhere along the way and were lost sometime before I took this picture.
