That looks exactly like what I want and need! Thanks a lot!
After our day of gaming, we all went to see Death of a Unicorn. It was awesome! Recommended!
Weâve watched Adolescence on Netflix over the last couple of days.
And - oh, my word. Itâs astonishingly good. Every bit as good as everyone has said.
But good gracious itâs not an easy watch.
Phenomenal television though. Iâve never seen anything better.
My partner started watching that yesterday. âWhatâs it about?â I asked. She told me. I happily did something different.
My partner apparently already watched it without me because he decided I wasnât going to want to watch it He wasnât wrong.
In the meantime I am in the middle of the 2nd season of Shangri-La Frontier. It has some in-episode pacing issues sometimes and fights that take 5 episodes but other than that I apparently find it fascinating or else I wasnât on Ep.40.
In terms of seeing some absolutely superb television, including some remarkable technical achievements and uniformly brilliant acting, youâre missing out.
In terms of itâs sheer emotional heft, I canât blame you for giving it a miss.
For anyone who is okay with the issues it addresses, and the emotional punch it gives, itâs completely unmissable.
For anyone who isnât, I imagine it would be completely unwatchable.
@JayGarrick I love me some Marx Brothers! Have you ever listened to Flywheel, Shyster and Flywheel? (Flywheel, Shyster & Flywheel podcast | Fourble) Itâs a 1990 re-creation of a show from the 30âs. Made by the BBC with a very convincing Chico and Groucho. Itâs absolutely superb.
Itâs incredible isnât it? Also it punched me hard in the parent gland. I found the last episode the hardest, and the best. Just trying to carry on. Oh goodness. What an incredible TV show.
Yes I have. In fact I once saw a stage version of it with folk who did a very good impression of the Marx Brothers.
Have you picked this book up? I grew up watching Marx Brothers movies with my grandparents and this was a fascinating read.
No I havenât read that one. I shall have a look and perhaps add it to my Marx library. Thanks.
Dear god! I need to floss my brain! I mean recent Star Trek, excepting Lower Decks, has been pretty bad and made clear that they had zero understanding about the UFP or indeed in the case of Picard the character heâd been playing for years, but this was beyond even them.
I did hear that Section 31 was a case of
âWas going to be a tv series and then Michelle won the Oscar for âEverything everywhereâŚâ, and now everybody involved is doing âminimum contractual obligation the movieâ until they can get out of thereâ.
I know there was originally talk of a Section 31 TV series, forgetting that they are not the good guys, and this was probably the pilot for that to begin with. It still would not excuse not looking at the script and going, âOh no, that is a stupid idea.â
Well, I watched the first series of Discovery and Yeoh was clearly the only real grown-up actor in it. So I can see why theyâd want to get her in again. But as you say, times change.
Look itâs fine. We just need to wait for..
checks notes
The new Star Trek academy show set 800 years in the future with Robert Picardo
Iâm sure that will be fine.
Whose first film role was as the serial killer in The Howling.
Certainly have nothing against Michelle Yeoh as a choice, although her character on Discovery made zero sense. Weâll accept the genocidal empress of the Terran Empire as part of our crew because she looks like someone we used to like, as Iâve liked her since her Hong Kong movie days. But surely they could have found something better for her to be in? She deserves better.
When itâs a franchise like this (and similarly with Star Wars), I think itâs more important to the financiers that there always be something new available than that it be any good.
