Testing out colour schemes and not coming to any conclusions!
The red looks great with the gold, but the green (also a nice contrast to the metal) seems to really show the shade depth. Tough choices.
Jazzed this one up a bit
Liking it ok, but want to try some of the others too.
Edit:
Others!
Also the same turbodork paint over three different priming options:
That first dude looks like he’s a Champion of Tzeentch with the colour scheme!
Did a wee progress check on all the models that are about 80+% finished tonight. Really happy with how they’re turning out
French fusiliers completed to wrap up another line infantry battalion.
I particularly like the enthusiastic guy waving his shako in the air.
So I just finished my ridiculously too big batch paint of infinity.
And popped them on my shelf with the other O12 models…
I have a problem!
That isn’t a problem… that is a very beautiful solution right there. Nice work!
Some very, very quick n’ dirty O-12 I finished up. At this level of quality (read: almost nothing) I can probably finish my pile of shame for Infinity (although not Defiance) by the end of the year.
Gives me a goal, at least.
Are they great? No. But are they good? Also no. But are they at least fast to finish?
Kinda. Definitely faster, and at this point, that’s good enough.
Gosh, to me they look really good.
But I hardly ever paint…
Finally got to painting again, and knocked out Styx from Godtear.
I used some Turbo Dork 4d glasses iridescent paint that fluctuates between purple and green for the ‘face’, blade, and the deepest level of the torso. It doesn’t come across on camera, but it’s a cool spectral effect.
He’s out?!?! I need that set!!
Nice paint job! It’s too bad the colour shift doesn’t show in pictures, but it makes sense.
I’m hoping to grab an airbrush in the next 1-2 months so I can more easily prime. Those TurboDork paints are high on my list once we get going. Have ideas for a few Warhammer minis (I want to go full Xenomorph for the Gene Splicers in Space Hulk).
Edit: I love in SW Ontario and it’s basically always humid, so beyond the cost of rattle cans, just finding a day I could get it done is near impossible.
I’m looking forward to getting the hounds done. Styx wins for cutest banner.
The humidity here was only at about 13%, but I made the mistake of not taking into account the air quality (which is horrible, due to the wildfires) when priming, and now have 5 warbands with a slightly grainy finish. I learned last time this happened that it doesn’t cause too many problems unless I try to dry brush large areas.
You keep painting 'em, I’m happy to keep seeing 'em! I’ve got my Aristeia! models to paint up and if I’m honest I’m intimidated by the unique nature of each figure. Loving seeing all the attention to detail here.
Got the first of two of Styx’s puppers done. I’m going for a Ghostly Mosswolves thing. We’ll see if the video shows of the TurboDork paint any better. It really is quite green in real life.

Also, after @Derelicte mentioned airbrushing primer instead of spray tanning, Facebook caught me in a moment of weakness and I picked up one of these battery powered air brushes. It seems solidly constructed, and worked fine to prime some more Godtear minis. We’ll see how long a $35 sprayer holds up under clumsy amateur use.
I think the video definitely catches some of the colour shift! The pups are looking good!
Curious to hear how the airbrush goes!
Styx and his Moss Hounds turned out pretty well! The TurboDork paints are fun to play with, if you’ve got something that could use some 90’s Totally Rad Mojo.
I played around with my little battery pack airbrush, and I think it’ll be fine for indoor acrylic priming, as long as I keep up with cleaning it (and wear a mask. I accidentally bought some VOC primer/sealer for it and got pretty hoarse before I figured out the problem)
Those look great!!
I think I’m going to have to look elsewhere for this set. The OGS I go to for my Godtear stuff (and most GW) still doesn’t have it, and it seems like they may not restock it. I’m guessing the game isn’t a big mover, so I’m not hugely surprised. It’s unfortunate though as it’s a great game.
