The resurrected miniatures painting and showing off thread

Thanks! That was the one rule I held myself to from the beginning with these (and one of the reasons I’ve held off on Grimgut).

I’m happy with how I incorporated the colors overall, although Totally 90’s Halftusk is VERY blue.

And here is the beginning of the next major painting project. There is a very specific dad-level joke here…

Decided to start with Drizzt , instead of Catti-brie. These Adventure System minis feel sooooooo tiny after all the SFG ones.

I’ve probably painted this character 4 times over the years and this sculpt is my least favorite, but I’m happy with this paint job. It looks really good from 3 feet away!

Looks pretty good up close, too

I was going to say, from up close looks way better than anything I have managed… ever.

Well, shucks, folks! Thanks. These are really nice forums.

Keeping on trucking with Legend of Drizzt. Easily the best shield. +2 Charisma, followed later by -4 Constitution.

Good old Bruenor Battlehammer. Is Wulfgar there as well?

Yep! He’s next. I don’t think my eyes can take painting Regis for a bit. I need a swole barbarian to reset my perspective.

Had to give my paintbrush a rest while I did far too much work for work over the last couple of weeks.

Deciding that I was doing too much, I went back to a couple more Stuffed Fables models.

Been changing up how the wee one and I play through the stories, splitting it up a bit over a few game sessions rather than ploughing through 2hrs+ in one go. While I’ve been impressed at how well she’s been keeping engaged for that long, it’s still a big ask for a 7 1/2 year old.
Splitting it up does let me get a sneak peek at the bosses coming up though and making sure that when we reach them I can get some paint on them at least rather than just an undercoat

Been taking a while to get her painted up. Lots of to-ing and fro-ing with what colour scheme to go with. Decided on an Alice in Wonderland feel.

Is this from a game? Or just minis bought separately?

These are from the D&D Legend of Drizzt Adventure system game. I’m going through a Salvatore audiobook phase, and am listening to The Crystal Shard while I paint them up.

These look fantastic! I showed my daughter, and now she’s all fired up to put Godtear away (now that it’s painted) and restart Stuffed Fables.

Thanks, that’s kind of you :slightly_smiling_face:
Been enjoying the game, and enjoying these models too. Normally the models I have to get through are GW armies: a horde skaven army and an inherited space marine army that doesn’t really capture my imagination.

These stuffed fables models are a wee joy to paint up, and have never felt like a chore like those GW can easily become

Your Drizzt models are looking really good too

The Crystal Shard, wow… That brings back memories. Well, enjoy, they are the best books from Forgotten Realms imho. I left the series a while ago, but loved them in my teens and twenties.

Woah! Scrolled back up and that Godtear stuff looks fantastic :grinning:

I’m giving them a listen after spending lots of time educating myself about the mirroring of racist structures in fiction, and in fantasy in particular. It’s a harsh lens.

I’m working through an English degree, and I can’t wait to find a course that really digs into this. My contemporary Sci-fi course flirted with these issues (the male gaze of cyberpunk in particular), but gosh does “classic” Fantasy ever have a metric tonne of racism to deal with.

Anyway! I think I may pick up my brushes for the first time since May this week! Fingers crossed!

A few more British Napoleonic infantry, plus an officer to keep the rabble in order.
