The Crowdfunding Thread

One of the lesser-known signs of the Apocalypse?

Edit: I’m also compelled to link to What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question? - #153 by Phil (with my apologies).

Mine too : I didn’t get the expansion (for reasons I can’t remember). I will do the maths and work out if I would just have been better buying it at UKGE …

This one is a book (and only $26 (plus shipping, fees and tax))

I was lured in by a good demo at Expo. There’s a fair bit of dice chucker and push your luck here, and I’m not expecting a Top Ten Game, but I think it’ll be fun.

Sounds like Concordia is live.

I’m still in the same place - Puerto Rico and Castles of Burgundy both needed to be fixed. Agricola I prefer the old style, but this is the first set to collect all the decks. And the irrigation / fruit tree expansions / solo are useful to me.

Concordia from Awaken Realms just lacks a raison d’etre.

The pricing isn’t bad. But let me get this straight - cardboard colonist standees? WHAT? And cardboard house tokens?

It’s a minis or nothing campaign.

Actually the minis are an extra add-on. The deluxe edition has wooden meeples. Standard edition is the cardboard standees. It is three separate extras for the metal coins, acrylic tokens, and the 3d minis.

Sorry, I love Concordia. I think it’s a fantastic game. The setup is already a bit more than I would prefer. Switching to the minis seems like it would add a bunch more setup time. This is just so overproduced when you add everything in, but I can’t deny that having all the boards and expansions for that price would be nice. Almost tempted to back the standard edition and then just bring my existing meeples and components instead of the cardboard over.

But nope, I’ll just live with what I’ve got. I’ve already got Salsa and Aegypta & Creta. That’s probably enough as it is, and push comes to shove and I need another couple of maps, I could get Brittania & Germania or Roma & Sicilia for $30ish.

Yeah - I’m at Original, Salsa, Venus as an add-on, Aegyptus/Creta for 2p maps, and Solitaria. I think that’s 9 maps, if you treat Hellas as 2 (official rules to play only part of it for 2-3p).

And I’ve written before, I didn’t care for Solitaria. Any bot where the bot takes a different but scripted action from you just allows you to deny the bot - in this case, if you colonize as efficiently as possible, the bot can’t buy cards. It’s a single strategy system where the only difficulty settings come from giving the bot free points. Thank goodness for BGA and the app!

Concur. I actually prefer the old cards and such. The new ones just look too busy.

Agree 3. And it reveals what Awaken Realms can really do and not do. Starting with CoB and Puerto Rico you could only go up, and they did. But Agricola had the same issue. The old one had cleanliness, personality, etc that they couldn’t replicate or improve on.

Awaken Realms also use generative AI for assets, touched up by humans. Not the other way round.
