The fancy “auspicious beasts” are nice, but the wooden components are excellent as well. Not worth buying.

The two expansions - the yellow dragon and gifted stones - are a nice addition if you can get them at the right price.

Yellow Dragon has a 7 Wonders Duel style tug-of-war track that gives bonuses if you can pull the dragon toward you, with an outright win if you pull it all the way. Just another axis of interaction you have to keep track of.

Gifted stones are implemented on BGA - one unique stone that has one of four special abilities (chosen at start of game). Makes the board a little more dynamic and allows you to change the calculus midgame.

Okay, that three hats graphic is actually a great way to advertise a game.

My very quick impression of Outgunned (two more episodes to come on the recording): fun, but hard to get into (lots of details to remember) and can get a bit samey over time. But the character generation is truly great! I wouldn’t make this my game I use for everything, but I do plan to play it again.

I haven’t played it, but I have read the Superhero incarnation of Outgunned. I can see how the abstracted nature of the rules could feel samey over the long haul. As a short campaign of 6 sessions or less, I could see it working well.

Just realised I hadn’t completed pledge manager for my container KS. Hopefully not too long a wait now.

So “Legends of Avantris” reskinned 5.5e D&D to be an 80s anime space opera, including space versions of all the existing classes.

Then they got the incredible animators behind the Starlight Brigade music vid to do a promo music video for it with synthwave band The Midnight. The highest pledge level is $1000.

Extremely conflicted about this.

On the one hand the likelihood of going round in circles is high

On the other it is adorable.

That makes me think of my BGA profile pic:

He gets where he’s going. Eventually. But there are a lot of naps involved.

Good luck!

I had something delivered while I was out the other day, but when I got home that evening it wasn’t at the door, and my partner knew nothing about it. When I followed the international tracking web site to the local courier’s site, I found a photo of the delivery. It was not a photo of any door at my house. I did think it looked a lot like my next door neighbour’s front porch, though, and my letter box is in a confusable location for them, so I wandered over there with a good amount of hope. I didn’t see my parcel, but the delivery had been hours earlier, so I knocked. They answered and checked with everyone who was home, but none of them knew anything about it. I was planning to check nearby houses to see if anyone else had a similar doorway, and my neighbour suggested checking the same street number down the nearby side-street. In the end I wandered around the neighbourhood for the better part of an hour to no avail. As I neared my house once more it occurred to me to have a look at my neighbour’s back door – where I found a box which looked exactly like the one from the photograph.

What annoys me is that the courier took a photo of the package at the front door and apparently then moved it to the back door without updating the photo or leaving a note about it. So even if it had been a parcel for my neighbour, they could have had a similar experience of seeing the delivery photo first, then getting home and finding it wasn’t in the place it had clearly been left, and thinking it had been stolen.

Thanks courier!

Anyhow, I made it home with my parcel, and I could do with going on more walks, so I was happy in the end.

The number of animals wearing hats recently made me think something terrible had happened. Glad container is on the way!
