The Crowdfunding Thread

I bought deluxe Ra by accident. I swear I changed to the cheapo variant.

My partner is not 100 percent convinced of my innoncence I think.

Gotta say, I’m siding with your partner on this

I can only like this once, sadly.

Guilty until proven innocent!

I also switched from deluxe to standard Ra. I admit I checked just now and for me it seems to have worked… unless deluxe version was $40 :grinning:

I’ve jumped on a pre-order for Catstronauts by Alley Cat Games. Small box tin dexterity game, which will ultimately be a gift for my cat obsessed daughter. There’s also a new version of Tinderblox too.

(As an aside, I find it interesting that they used KS with their previous games, but have chosen to do a pre-order hosted by themselves).

Seems like a business decision to risk it and leave Kickstarter and crowdfunding, in general, I htink?

were they known before their Kickstarter projects? maybe they think they’ve reached enough people that publicity through other channels will be cheaper for them?

I know them for Dice Hospital, and if I’ve heard of them probably most people have.

I’d guess it’s a size of project thing.

They did Dice Theme Park

Received my copy of Root The Marauder Expansion and the Hirelings box last Friday. We were so busy this weekend I still have it in shrink. Hopefully I will have a look tonight.

I’m tempted to dip into ARCS. I have a good feeling about the campaign game.

I backed Arcs with the Campaign. I cannot help myself when it comes to Cole Wehrle games. Despite rarely getting them to the table.

I also just canceled my Kabuto Sumo + QE Commodities pledge. I have an unexplained ā€œautomatic paymentā€ from UPS in my paypal account (that I only discovered now oopsie…) and the only Kickstarter that arrived around the time was the previous boardgametables one. I am completely unsure how to figure out what really cost me 90€ but as I have backed too many games anyway and was on the fence about this campaign also, this possibly unrelated thing pushed me to cancel.

I was going to make that exact pledge for QE and Kabuto (well almost the expansion for Kabuto rather than QE) but it feels like a lot.

You can late pledge for Final Girl season 2 on gamefound until the 15th of June.

I’m not convinced by Final Girl yet. Is anyone a big fan?

I played a bit of Hostage Negotiator on the app. That didnā€˜t sell me on the concept. It seems very luck reliant? I was initially keen to check out Final Girl despite not being into horror movies at all (quite the opposite) but my attempts on the app were so bad I decided this was not for me.

Seems like a mash between Keydom and Aladdin’s Dragons.

I’ve played a bit of Hostage Negotiator and the skill comes in organising the various luck mitigators - but the dice can still mess you up. The joy went out of it for me when Van Ryder got into NFTs, see elsewhere, not because of the game.

Me neither, but I’m likewise curious to hear other opinions. I am a fan of horror movies, so the theme + the apparent general enthusiasm for it was a significant drawcard. If it was cheaper I’d probably have gone for it – but at those prices I needed some serious convincing, and it failed to convince me that the hype was justified when the campaign was running. I found it particularly problematic that they were running their Series 2 campaign only a month after the release of Series 1 – to me that sounded very much like ā€œwe need to get people’s money before everyone realises that the game doesn’t have any legsā€; so that was a big red flag.

A few months down the track though, I expect there are some reliable reviews out there.
