How would you rate Rallyman versus Flamme Rouge? Are they even in the same wheelhouse?
I love the simplicity of FR but I fear we won’t want to see it again for a while post lockdown.

Hmm. I wouldn’t want to remove either from my collection.
In terms of long-term value I suppose I might favour Rallyman GT, simply because of the wider variety of courses you can build, types of car, etc.
Flamme Rouge is a simpler and more elegant game. RGT isn’t completely thematic (the whole business about “if you want to go further, you brake and accelerate again rather than going along at top speed”) but the speed/position management gets quite fiddly and interesting. I haven’t yet tried FR’s solo mode (every time I’ve got the cards out at a convention someone has come along and wanted to play); RGT’s solo is pretty solid.
Just got my ship notification for Too Many Bones, so I guess it is in fact shipping.
Roll Player continues its multi-wave trickle-in with the newly expanded box insert from Meeple Realty. This is their original insert with an addition to support the big box and new expansion so I can make use of it right away. Next to come in should be the final box with the game itself!
I’ve purposely held off playing RP for the last few months to build anticipation (did not predict the lockdown related delays) so this can’t get here soon enough!
Eagerly awaiting this as well (the expansion and big box). I didn’t go in for the insert, but I might.
That said, I reached out to Folded Space about a Roll Player insert, and they said one might be in the works, but no confirmation. I’m curious if they can on that one as the Meeple Realty is basically an official product. Either way, I’ll probably hold off a bit to see what unfolds.
I can’t see an official version keeping an unofficial version from happening (it would be, after all, a big part of why it’s unofficial in the first place!).
[EDIT] I kept RP and M&M happily together in the core box but there’s no chance the new stuff would fit. Figured if I’m going for the big box, might as well get the insert too.
Sadly there’s a snapped component in mine but what can you do? Thankfully I should be able to fix it.
Not really apropos, but a friend linked this to me: I’m almost tempted by it! If there were a way to pay $1 to exclude a game, to thin down what I assume will be the “filler” material for the bulk of the selections.

Yeah that’s fair, lol.
I’m actually using both RP and M&M boxes already, but I just keep the player boards in the M&M box.
Finally watched the gameplay video that Level 99 linked to on the Bullet KS page:
Now completely sold on it. It looks fun as hell as one of the more basic characters (all of whom appear to be a significantly different twist on the core gameplay), and then when you consider characters like the wheelchair-bound poltergeist who clears entirely by pushing bullets off her board with big sweeping gestures, or the math specialist who adds up the numbers on bullets to determine what she can clear…my mind was blown.

Currently considering Bullet<3, Railroad Ink Yellow and Railroad Ink Green.
I have a list of one, and that’s the way I like it:
I really don’t need another Command & Colors family game, even though I technically don’t own one- I do have BattleLore 2nd and Memoir '44, which if I understand correctly are similar in play. I’ve been keeping my eye on BGG auctions to pick up one of the mainline C&C games, preferably Ancients or the new Medieval, though Napoleonics would be a fine addition as well - these titles, when they do appear in auctions, usually fetch quite a price and often, in the case of Ancients and Napoleonics, come encumbered with one or more expansions that drive up the price, demand and the shipping fees.
So I was interested when I just saw this:
I’m a sucker for plaid and having a, likely unreasonable, penchant for Scottish history due exclusively to my family name (which may actually be Irish…)
Unfortunately it’s priced outside of what I’m comfortable with for a game of this type.
To throw another C&C game into the mix, Commands & Colours: Samurai Battles is currently on the P500 list at GMT games.
Dangit! I watched too and now I’m in for this as well.
I really wish it wasn’t anime-aesthetics, but that is L99 Games’ thing after all. I’d be a lot happier if it were Dr. Mario-aesthetic, but they’re still going to get my money.
That gameplay though!
I mean, my name is taken from the SHMUP genre (Gradius) so I can think of a ton of different skins I’d have prefered here, but the popularity of the Dojin shooter (and Touhou especially) means the Loli aesthetic isn’t just on brand for L99, but for the genre they’re representing as well.
I’m so in love with the idea of Oath, but considering how inconsistent my group is with continuing narratives, I have to sadly let it go…
I did back the Pax Pamir reprint based on your rundown, however. Thanks again!
I don’t even think there’s a continuing narrative. There’s just… an awkward cleanup process where you don’t put everything back where you found it (what would your mother think about that!?).
I think there is potential, however, for a group to create a narrative of their own based on not tidying up after a game… but I would always hesitate to call that a “narrative” element in a game’s design.
I think The Kings Dilemma and Oath have come across remarkably similar solutions for such different games - though it could be argued that TKD is still an area control game. TKD uses assymetrical roles and different incentivisation for short, medium, and long plans. Oath uses a deck with genetic drift (sorry, I’m a biologist!). Oath may not have people purposefully trying to lose to push the deck in a certain direction, but they both end up with a similar premise for emergent narrative that slowly changes across games.
Both look like they could be quite dull if you don’t buy into the roleplay/narrative element. Don’t know about Oath yet, but I can see more mechanically minded gamers thinking TKD is incredibly repetitive after a few plays. It’s not much more of a game than the likes of Fog of Love. I’ve seen a few people disappointed that it doesn’t radically change over the campaign - people have the wrong expectations of what a legacy game is! I expect a lot of similar criticisms for Oath when it comes out. Especially after the mini-backlash Root had.
(that’s a lot of bones!)
