Check the canonical rules by Mattias (linked in the first post) - you can either start two at random (losing one if you have only one research node), or start one chosen one.

by the way… how many of you have played Humble Beginnings before? or who’s first time is it?

My first time with Humble Beginnings.

Edit: Timezone is currently EDT (GMT-4)

Also, what time zone is everyone? (I’m PST/Vegas)

You will find it extremely challenging! I highly recommend everyone to have either started their first game with it, or try it at least once!
(It will really make you appreciate regular mode)

Preferred direction? (I know you can pivot later, but to start with.)

(Also I’m in BST, currently GMT+0100, as I believe is RossM. Note that if you set your home timezone in Preferences/Profile you can get times from the system localised for that zone.)
