Self-Promotion, With Or Without Shame

I’d like to propose a TV host swap where Michael Palin goes to restaurants and is nice to people, and Gordon Ramsey goes on holiday to a series of the world’s most dangerous locations (as many of them as it takes).

TBF, I think even Palin’s famed patience and bon homie would be challenged by some of the hotels/restaurants that Ramsay visits….

I forgot to say that Audible agreed with my thought that the book was like Adam Kay’s memoir as it immediately recommended it to me after finishing it!!

Just a quick note: for anyone who doesn’t “do” digital books, my novel is now available in paperback through all the usual Amazon retailers.

I won’t link it again because I don’t wanna be spammy. But a HUGE thank you to everyone who has picked up a copy (and those of you who left reviews are my heroes). I’m proud of it.

I’d appreciate a link. Will pick up a copy after payday

I made a game!

It’s a comedy/horror RPG about mundane events (fetes, car boot sales, flower shows, etc) being interrupted by supernatural horrors. Inspired by stuff like Doctor Who and John Wyndham books.

It has 3 whole pages of rules (well, 1 of player rules, 1 of GM rules, and 1 of guidelines for running the game).

Fantastic! Congratulations!

But a title like that may be grounds for getting banned!

I’ve already learned a few British-isms!

For example, I have never heard “Feeling Peaky” before. Exhausted, boned, rundown, crushed, “a bit off,” bagged, and knackered, yes. “Peaky”?

Fabulous.

Quick note, though: in the rules, the order for Conditions is listed as “Perturbed, Feeling Peaky, Knackered” (page 1 to the right) and on the Character sheet it is “Perturbed, Rattled, Feeling Peaky.”

Ah, I knew there would be something I’d missed. This is what happens when you only give the proofreader one page at a time.

I’ve fixed that now :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Oooh cool, downloading now

I, too, would appreciate a non-Amazon option for buying this (and your other books, I’ve got a couple already). An epub would be fine.

FWIW I think you could upload the epub to Itch and sell from there; I’ve bought books from there before, e.g. The Fear Vampire by Geoffquest (which I still need to review, aargh, it’s good though)

Downloaded and will read through when I’m not ill. This sounds laser-targeted to me personally.

(I cannot agree with Pillbox re: titles, it’s perfect - but admittedly I have had my metaphor privileges revoked by a fanzine)

Having (finally!) finished this I can say I enjoyed it very much :+1:. Looking forward to more as and when it (may) arrive.

Sorry for my slow reading - I finally got TI4 played over a three week, three session marathon. Preparing for that (and printing a million plastic upgrades and a trophy) slowed me down, but built the spacey anticipation!

I’d definitely recommend the book. There was a tiny bit at the start that felt a bit stilted but it soon got into a groove and I didn’t think twice about it after the first few pages. Very impressive work.

Went to the immersive theatre / larp / puzzle rooms Lovecraftian experience that is the Key Of Dreams in a fancy manor house and grounds in Wales.

My partner is part of it but because it’s very expensive I’d never been.

I didn’t expect there to be SO MANY puzzles and secrets, you could spend the whole time chasing the stories, puzzle boxes, looking up messages in the library, the clues on just about every object. There’s also a team of actors and you can just talk to them and your fellow investigators instead. So much to investigate that even though it’s a noon to noon 24 hours event, you won’t have time for half of the mysteries.

I ended up following the story of a previous staging of The King in Yellow in the house, which went as well as you’d expect. Did my decisions make things “better”? I think we can certainly agree that decisions were made, yes they were.

Way more awesome than I was expecting but with a high price tag (fancy food, 24 hours, worth it if you love immersive experiences).

Not sure how to deal with the office this morning since they presumably won’t need me to uncover eerie horrors in the shadow of The Tree (or maybe they will).

Wow

Is it scary? (I’m a wimp)

Lovecraft isn’t really my bag, but I love an escape puzzle but I wouldn’t want a day of jump scares and being terrified.

Also, it’s quite near me so if anyone wants to go, let me know and we can meet for a game

I’d love to try it, but I shall have to save up for a while!

It’s not jump scare, more eldritch eerie. Some shouting, maybe a dark ritual, but no shocks.

And yes, VERY expensive to the point that I thought it can’t be good enough to justify the price tag, but darn it, it is.

With enough notice for piggy banks and (even worse) scheduling I would deffo give it a go
