Which one?

Oceans is one I find immensely difficult because I keep forgetting I need to target the coast. But when it works, it is awesome.

Got the name wrong.

Spread of Rampant Green

Just finished sept after a 2.5 year hiatus (!). It does feel tough but remember to keep pushing and concentrating on connecting places and recon-ing where you can.

We won one and lost one in sept, but ended up progressing what seems like significantly…

Edit- also what Kir2 said!

Ah, Rampant Green is the one that makes every other spirit better. I love the way the big tree supports all of the island.

I’m doing a lot better in S2 compared to S1.

S1 took us 19 games…

S2 I’m up to September. On 11 games. It could still go terribly wrong, but I’m hoping to finish in maybe 16 games…

Don’t even lose until May! One certain month was very mean though. I think on purpose :sob::sob::sob:

I think it helped that I slogged S2 in a few sessions, whereas S1 was few and far between. Our rustiness got us a few times and things snowballed out of control. Plus I soloed S2… I did say ā€˜I told you so’ a few times in S1.

It was so different to playing as Lightning’s Swift Strike last time. Then I couldn’t protect anyone, now I only had a major power to do damage, but defending kept us in the game and then my innate powers ramped up as I could play more cards.

We had that problem with Oceans, we’d wiped the board apart from 2 non coastal areas. And then the blight ramped up.

Looking forward to getting it on Thursday as our mutual anniversary present.

We play with two. Season 1 we played with friends at the start then took a break for a year and finished last year just with the two of us.

We did better in Pandemic 1. The first time we lost a whole month was June there.

Sadly, the hint where we have to search is going to take us 1 more game to get to because that city only appeared on the map today and we lost almost immediately after uncovering that. So one more game to connect it to the grid and then another game to get the card and search there. Unless of course it is at the bottom of the stack. And I think we’ll have to re-awaken LA. We never searched there.

Well, we’ll play April this month and after that the plan is likely to go month by month.

On the other hand now that I have a copy of My City waiting in the wings maybe we’ll finish S2 quicker… decisions decisions

If only there was an ability that would help you…

Ah shoot… we should have realized that combo–hits head on wall to knock brain cells back into place. Too late now. Next game. Next game.

What combo are you thinking of? I can’t remember if you’ll have the ability yet

Still talking about Pandemic Season 2…

I do think there is one that lets you exchange a card in hand with one in the discard pile.
edit: just checked the game it is one of the initial bunch on the big sheet. Just 2 points. Discard a card of the same color to pick up one from discard.

Ah there’s one better than that to become a searching machine. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Played a game of The Voyages of Marco Polo tonight on Yucata with my wife and two friends. Very enjoyable! It was so interesting, the different play styles that everyone’s characters led them towards. I had plenty of money but always seemed to be short on camels, for example, while my friend who never had to pay for occupied spaces had camels galore. A couple of interface problems of course, but the game was enjoyable enough that my wife and I ordered a copy.

Marco Polo 2 is also fun and by accounts a bit smoother but therefore probably less prickly.

Marco Polo is one of the few games that’s on both Yucata and BGA. I’m interested to know if either implementation is better.

Only played it once and that was irl but I really enjoyed it.

I just played a real time BGA game of Beyond the Sun at 2 players. I poked around my first async play without much thought and am only 2-3 turns into my next try. A little knowledge of the system, plus playing in real time really brought the game out. It combines lots of mechanics (worker placement, area control, tech trees and a bit of a race) but it seems balanced between different strategic paths. A bit of player interaction (positive and negative) adds a tactical element. It seems a good game and I’d like to play again.

It doesn’t look like I logged last week’s (initial) game of Hellboy. I played the first mission as directed in the tutorial leaflet and got playing immediately, which was a nice touch. I plowed through things easily enough, but also dragged my butt, as it turned out; I triggered the Boss encounter after a few inopportune doom track movements, and it ambushed the crap outta me. HB went down promptly, and Abe managed to take out a henchman before getting wrecked by the boss and its remaining goon. This was an hysterical learning experience!

I’m set up to try again, this time with the full variable setup (different encounter pool). Hopefully I can crack this nut!

So after Oath arrived this afternoon I was delighted with the guided first setup and the walkthru for four different player turns that ends and leaves you with a four handed game to finish.

I am happy to report that despite still making mistakes I now have a grasp of the game that I was never able to get from all my tinkering with the TTS mod.

And I already have part 1 of a story: The Chancellor was replaced by his Long Lost Heir ā€œCitizen Blueā€ (I think I need to name all the colors to make the chronicle writing more interesting) even as Yellow and Red tried to distinguish themselves by dominating the military field and the economy respectively. Red turned into a true hoarder of secrets and favor. So much so that the populace turned into a mob continuously clamoring for more more more…

But one thing disturbs me. The graph that shows how to play the solo mode ā€œRobo Princeā€ looks worse than one of @RossM’s whispermaps for Botc. Yikes. I am not posting a picture, you shall all discover this horror for yourselves.

Here's a pic of the game shortly before it ended abruptly on Turn 6.

I hope I can learn the bot because it is also recommended for 2 players and I think my brain is not made for playing this game 4 handed.

I think you all deserve a picture…

But I'll hide it in here.

I feel like that needs an accompanying lecture series.
