Photos of our pets

Me: Hey Joe, on a whim I entered a random contest with a local business on Facebook the other day.
My husband (Joe): Ok…
Me: Gwen won a session at a professional pet photography studio.
My husband: :man_facepalming:
Me: I wasn’t expecting to win!

Had a nice little spot for the reference sheets for a moment there, anyway.

I only managed to photograph one of the pub dogs on the last night, but he did pose a bit.

This evening, I said goodbye to this wonderful sweet affectionate guy. My noble ranger. My bird catcher extraordinaire. My reluctant stagehand. My cross-eyed lion. My Clarence.

I say mine but I was his; as with most ferals, he chose me. Keeping his distance at first, then becoming more friendly and rarely far from me at morning coffee in the plaza or late nights packing away after the music ended. He started coming in to stay a couple of years back, was quickly accepted by the other cats but still with a sense of adventure and will to explore and roam the plaza. Indeed, some of you also knew him from his patrols of the square and his friendliness.

During lockdown last summer, he finally came in for good and settled down to an indoor life. Always chilled and seemingly happy, he hid his illness from me until the last few days of his life, when the kidney problems and anemia became too much. He loved me until the end though, trying to stand and rub against my hand and head as best he could. Even in such suffering, his heart was as caring as ever.

My tears will turn to regrets, my regrets to sighs, and my sighs to happy memories in the days and weeks ahead. Rest well, boy. I was honoured to share some of our lives together and thank you for your love x

Sorry for your loss. It’s always hard to lose a family member.

Awww, sorry for your loss. It does particularly sting when you feel like he chose you, rather than the other way. I hope he enjoys now his hunts in the stars.
