Yep, back to Else.
Can you remind me a) what the bonuses are if I draw my sword and charge and b) can I fire my pistol in close combat? I think I can but donāt have the rulebook nearby
Iāll attack from the side.
I THINK:
+20 for attacking an engaged opponent
+20 for attacking a Large opponent
+20 for attacking an opponent that we outnumber 2-1
+10 for advantage
+10 for charging (well +1 advantage)
-20 for darkness
-10 for fatigue
-10 for fever
And if I CAN use my pistol, I could fire my pistol instead and get +20 for close range? (But not get the +1 advantage for charging?)
Letās look at dropping your pistol and drawing your sword to attack first.
- You canāt charge because you are within your Move distance of the Terror.
- Else has night vision, so no penalty for the darkness.
- the bonus for melee attacks against larger targets is only +10.
- You only get +20 for attacking an already engaged opponent if you attack from the side or rear. In this case, I think that we can say that Else uses her move action to do so, but youāll have to specify if sheās to the side or behind.
Modifiers are therefore:
+20 attacking engaged from side or rear
+20 outnumbering opponent 2:1
+10 melee attack on large monster
+10 for 1 Advantage
-10 Fatigue
-10 Fever
A total of +40
Else is at point blank range, and can fire into the combat (special trait for pistols). Due to the range, the Terror will be able to attempt to oppose the test by dodging.
Modifiers for the pistol shot:
+40 Point blank range
+20 large target
+10 for 1 Advantage
-10 fatigue
-10 fever
-20 shooting into combat (assuming that you care if you hit Meinrad)
A total of +30
If you miss your shot by up to 20, youāll accidentally hit Meinrad.

Yes, and Meinrad moved next to you, and then the creature charged him. Thus the Terror is pretty much next to Else.

(how is the terror looking? Barely affected,or hanging on by a thread?)
(It looks very bloodied, but doesnāt seem to be waning in strength yet. Since Meinrad is right up close to the creature, give me an Intuition check please).

Meinrad gets the strong impression that the creature is likely to abandon the fight soon, as it steps away from Else and looks back towards the river.
The group have shown themselves to be dangerous enough to hurt it. Compared to the relatively easy pickings that the missing people represent, you are not easy prey, and there is little gain for the creature by persisting with the fight.
(can I say this to the group or should I wait for my turn?)
(Strictly speaking, you should wait for your turn - I probably should have reserved the roll until then too!)
Since Amris doesnāt know that the creature will fall back heāll continue shouting for assistance.
(@Scribbs Iām aware this wonāt gain any benefit, donāt worry.
Also, if he notices any ranged weapon around, say a citizen has a bow, sling or whatever heāll ask to borrow/commandeer the item momentarily).
Thereās certainly something that Amrisā noise contributes towards, although not the material aid that he really wants.

Are there any good rocks about, or anything else that fronika could throw?
Yeah, the area is pretty run down and thereās suitable detritus around for Fronika to grab a good sized rock.
Successfully hitting the creature will be really hard though.
