I agree, as long as we can keep the fluid from seeping out of the ground and into the water.

The first action is going to be starting a project. We’re going to repair that automaton! This will take 4 weeks since it’s badly damaged and our copper mine is inhabited by hostile monkey/ape/mutant things.
The second action is also a project. We’re going to kill those monkey/ape/mutant things and take back our mine! This will take 2 weeks to be sure we’ve got them all.
(I’ll update the map in a little bit!)

Here and there around the area the odd mushroom grows in a corner. Spend 2 weeks collecting spores for an underground mushroom farm.
Discussion
It all makes sense. That slot in the automoton would fit a cassette tape inside. What voice do we want to give it?

I think it should be a woman’s voice, but something neutral. We don’t want folks feeling like it’s in control, or getting too attached if the worst should happen.

We should use the tapes that store people’s life stories. We might learn something more about our surroundings.
I don’t know. There’s something about that one tape with the guy that keeps talking about a “humpty dance” that just… makes me smile.

As much as I would love to have a machine that only spoke in Motown Lyrics, I think this automaton has a lot of questions to answer and needs a full vocabulary.

We should proceed with caution. Who knows what it’s been programmed to do? It could be dangerous.
I say we see what knowledge it has/is programmed to do first. If it can be used for defense, even better.
