It seems there is some major destructive force intent on preventing us from making contact with this alleged void city, so we should make doing so our top priority.

Somewhat obscured by the wall of abandoned cars is a reservoir, probably once used as a source of water by the airport.
For my action I will start a project:
There is the wreckage of a light aircraft in the middle of the reservoir. Only the rudder is visible, so we don’t know how much is left, but we may be able to retrieve it. This will be a difficult task, so it will take four weeks.

An old piece of machinery is discovered, cursed and dangerous. How does the community destroy it?
Some of the older teens decided to go exploring in the marsh despite the warnings. As they got deeper into it one of them noticed a what seemed like a giant clawed arm coming out of a small mound. Terrified, they ran back, and after hearing the story scouts discovered it was actually a partially covered but possibly operation backhoe! This could be invaluable for fortifying the settlement and possibly building in the future.
For my action:
While working to excavate and bring the backhoe out of the marsh, an unsettling discovery was made! Violent and primitive ape-like mutants have invaded the mine and attacked our workers! Luckily, no one was seriously injured, but we must be careful from now on.
@RossM The tapes have been catalogued! What’s the result??

It’s strange. Lots of them contain people talking, word after word, working through the dictionary, like they’re providing a complete toolkit to recreate any conversation. A few tell stories of people’s lives and in one corner there is a collection of music, mainly Motown and 80s hip hop.
A very mixed bag.

Oops, sorry, I totally missed this, life’s been hectic in Meatspace.
Strangely, it’s the void. The combination of the haunting sounds emanating from it, with the stark ‘nothing’ means people are drawn to it. None of them can tell you why, but it fills their heart in the same way looking at classic art or architecture might.
For my action, we’re going to start a project, pulling the backhoe from the marsh. If we’re going to keep developing the area, the extra muscle will be invaluable, if it works. Normally this would be a relatively simple feat, but the combination of the dangers in that area, plus our new friends in the mines in close proximity, it’s going to take a couple of weeks to get the rigging set-up and the extraction done.

Coming in for a low landing, a ginormous pigeon arrives. It stands at least ten feet tall, and says he’s made the sacrifice, and attained immortal life. (It talks? Yes it talks)
For my action, I will start a project:
Since we have this nice pond now, the people hurriedly work to make a farm nearby it, hoping it doesn’t disappear as quickly as it arrived 
4 weeks for plants to grow (and/or die).
Also, a thing got dug up!

Well, it turns out it’s not a sculpture, but instead a badly damaged automaton. Currently inactive, but probably repairable.
The most interesting thing of note is the slot in its chest cavity. It measures 4 inches wide and half an inch tall.

Spring is over, and we have learned much about our community and our surroundings. It is now the first week of summer.
I have drawn the nine of diamonds:
Something goes foul and supplies are ruined. Add a new Scarcity.
Some fluid, perhaps oil or fuel, has leaked out of the crashed aircraft in the reservoir. It has probably been doing so for some time but the attempt to recover the fuselage has exacerbated the leak. The water, which we had thought was potable, now has a chemical sheen and the newly planted crops are starting to suffer. Even worse, the toxic chemicals have started to leech into the groundwater, rendering any nearby source of water undrinkable. The recovery of the aircraft is abandoned, for fear of making the situation even worse.
Drinking water is now scarce
For my action I will start a discussion:
How should we try to save the crops we have begun growing by the reservoir?

When it gets to your turn @IssiNoho77, could you also tell us whether the backhoe has been successfully extracted from the marsh please?

There must be some kind of filtration system we can put together, if for nothing else, at least to protect the crops in the immediate. Over time we should be able to filter it for drinking.

Burn off the the fluid, yes there will be lots of smoke but it’s the quickest way to remove a lot of the chemical.

I agree, the fluid has to go not only is it dangerous in the immediate future, if and when we’re attacked it could burn this place to the ground. If we get this backhoe out, we can move it away from the spill and dig a well maybe?
