Ok. I think we are all in agreement that the donkeys at the sawmill and woodcutters go to the clear pasture to breed.
But what about the donkey at the quarry?
Build a road?
Between the quarry and the sawmill?

Some questions.
How far up the wonder board is the irrigation marker? Is it the two connected yellow circles?
Do we have the goods to build a sawmill (stones on 1-3, boards on 2-3? Sorry, still learning the symbols)? If we do, can the donkey from 1-3 carry the stones to 2-3 to build the papermill? Is that a good idea even if its possible? Research seems to be important so my thinking is early access to paper.
Looking at the player aid, we need resources to put into the paper mill before we build it.
If not, what about building a bridge on 1-3? Doesn’t help yet, but a subsequent bridge on 2-2 opens up the map
Read the earlier posts!!!
We absolutely have to build a sawmill before we can build anything else that uses boards
A second one?
I’m not sure I follow?
Let me answer these hold on
@Captbnut Irrigation happens at the yellow dots. It’s the 28th empty brick space. Every turn a neutral block is added. The game ends when the 20th one is placed. So we need to add our own blocks to get there. We add one brick in exchange for two goods at our base.
We should buy a paper mill, but not yet. Paper is needed to make share certificates and to do research, but they need gold and geese respectively so we should get these first.
As for bridges, roads and rivers, I’ll post a drawing later to look at options
Ahh, we have not (yet). I suspect in short order (this turn?) we’ll need to have the donkey on 1-3 bring the stone to 2-3 so it can be combined with the boards on 2-3 to build a sawmill.
Also, whichever is more time sensitive: we should get either donkeys alone in 3-3 this turn, or have the donkey in 2-3 lead the geese to 3-3 so that we can get a 2nd goose next turn (by having the donkey leave to give them privacy)
An argument could be made that we don’t actually want to build the sawmill on 2-3, but I think the advantages of having it there are pretty good (boards being a resource that we can easily turn into wonder bricks, being produced exactly where they would need to be to turn in)
Can the extra geese do anything without paper? As long as we have room to breed geese later my feeling is that an extra donkey is more useful at this stage.
Yep. If only to move the geese about.
I also vote baby donkey over baby goose at the moment.
Ross’ Incredibly Dull Roads Post
First of all assumptions.
Rules.
-Bridges link tiles, but are not roads.
-Either side of a river counts as the same tile.
Bridges.
From our starting position to reach any tile costs the same whether we walk around the east side of the river, or build bridges and go direct. (As such, I’ve deleted the west side of the river in the above picture.
Rough Plan.
Early game, Donkeys are in the south (Breeding), goods need to go north, late game resources need to go south and east.
Places that need roads maybe?
Quarry to home base? Helps us move stone more quickly and also…
Quarry west to Woodland? If we build these two we can get resources quickly to the far NW and build a raft factory, which makes transporting stuff quicker back to the south along the river?
Future Mine to Base? Only tile not connected to a river, lets us move our gold quicky later.
Base to lower pasture. This will be important for breeding geese. We need to drag them there with a donkey, and then the donkey has to leave before they breed. Without a road that means it takes two turns to breed, with one, the donkey can scoop up the new gosling and leave with it every turn.
Woodcutter to base. This seems less important as hopefully we will have rafts, but maybe?
Assumption #2: Donkeys can’t swim
My dull post is now complete.
Can we build as many things as we like each turn (as long as we have resources)?
A double road sounds good because it would essentially save a turn each round
Don’t forget a donkey can go up and a down a single length of road in the same turn, so drop off a good and come back to it’s starting place.
