Leaving Earth (Base Game and Mercury) Pbf

I don’t think there’s any limitation.

(Neither do I) it shouldn’t take a year to mine 9 lunar samples. I’m checking.

This guy seems to think you’re correct. :sunglasses:

Eh, what does the author of the game know.

Ok. That’s all built.

Edit. @RogerBW I think you’re a Soyez rocket short of completing this. Do you want to buy one, are have I missed it?

Yeah, that looks consistent with what you posted above. Thanks! OK, just buy the Soyuz, leaving me ¤12.

With that 12, I’ll buy an Atlas (5) and recruit a medic astronaut (5). Two Junos for the remaining funds.

Sorry, should have said explicitly: end turn.

I am here I am here. Reasons… so many of them.

My turn.

  1. So the probe from Ceres is still not back, huh? Well, I’ll fire that Ion Thruster over another 2 years I guess (I don’t think I am getting the money for that while I can still do something with it…)
  2. Question: I am missing a third token of mine on it’s way to Mars, I can see that in my player materials but not on the map.
  3. Buy 3 Juno Rockets
  4. Set my probe on top of 3 Juno Rockets and shoot into suborbital, buy off anything that comes up from the Junos.
  5. If the probe made it, try “Landing” it and if there is money: buy off the result.
  6. If any megabucks are left, buy rockets in following priority: Soyuz, Atlas, Juno

Sorry Gang!

@yashima.

Your first two draws on juno were success and minor failure. Both cleared.

This leaves you with 7 space bucks which were used for an atlas and two Juno’s.

(As for your ship on the way to Mars it’s the one marked at Mars flyby. It was recorded as the wrong colour.)

1968 :us: NASA :us:

Purchase:

  • 1x Saturn ($15)
  • 1x Astronaut: Mechanic ($5)
  • 1x Astronaut: Doctor ($5)

That concludes 1968 for NASA

I have been waiting for someone to go next.

Turns out it’s me.

France!

The various spacecraft all arrive in Lunar Orbit.

One juno fires to propel another to lunar surface.

Success! Probe on the moon. gathers a sample, second juno returns to lunar orbit.

Success!

Twin ions propel the sample back to Earth.

Meanwhile.

Buy a probe £2.

Launch 4 junos and one probe into Earth orbit on an untested saturn.

Minor Failure. Pay £5 to remove.

Try again with a second saturn.

Success! Pay £10 to remove.

Spend last £8 on a Soyez.

End turn.

Also known as the year where @RogerBW breaks the Earth’s economy… Player boards coming up.

Slight Revision this year, if your tech is fully researched I’ve stacked them, as we were suffering from sprawl.

Right, so, sell 9 lunar samples for ¤25×9=¤225 plus standard budget = ¤250.

In orbit I have an Aldrin plus Gagarin (pilot), a Vostok, an Atlas, and two supplies.
On the ground, 2 Vostok, Atlas, and Bykovsky the medic. (Plus probes and Junos that are not relevant to this turn.)
And after all that I still don’t have the budget for the missions I want!

  • Recruit two medic astronauts @ ¤5 = ¤10, leaving ¤240.
  • Buy two Saturns @ ¤15 = ¤30, leaving ¤210.
  • Buy 5 Soyuz @ ¤8 = ¤40, leaving ¤170.
  • Buy 3 Atlas @ ¤5 = ¤15, leaving ¤155.
  • Buy one Aldrin @ ¤5, leaving ¤150.
  • Buy 12 supplies @ ¤1 = ¤12, leaving ¤138.
  • Assemble 1 Saturn + 3 Soyuz + Vostok with Bykovsky + 11 supplies into Ma (mass 60)
  • Buy 6 Saturn @ ¤15 = ¤90, leaving ¤65.
  • Launch Ma on those 6 Saturns, 3+3 to Earth Orbit.
  • Rendezvous with Vepr already in EO.
  • Rendezvous to separate new Vepr: Saturn, 2 Soyuz, Atlas, Vostok, Aldrin with Gagarin and Bykovsky, 8 supplies, m55)
  • Vepr burns Saturn + Soyuz (280 thrust) to push m55 through d5 to Mars Orbit, 3⌛)

And there’ll be another bit, but I’d like to confirm that that’ll work and see what I’ve got left where before I commit to it.

That works. What’s next?

OK, so not counting astronauts, I started this turn with
EO (Vepr): Al Vo At 2Su
Earth: 2Vo At 4Ju Pr
I have bought:
2Sa 5So 3At Al 12Su (and 6Sa which I’ve burned)
Ma is launched with 1Sa 3So Vo 11Su
Leaving on Earth Sa 2So 4At 4Ju Al Vo Su Pr
Adding Ma to Vepr gave me Sa 3So At Al 2Vo 13Su
Separating Vepr (defined above) leaves in EO: So Vo 5Su

(Yes, a spreadsheet was involved.)

OK, so the next thing. I’ve put checkpoint inventories in brackets; if you get to that point and my assumption is wrong, I’ve messed up somewhere.

  • Buy 1 Saturn @ ¤15, leaving ¤50.

  • Assemble on Earth from existing stocks Soyuz + Atlas + 4 Juno + an empty Aldrin, VM 20.

  • Launch that to Earth Orbit on Saturn (from stocks)+Saturn.

  • [Leaving on Earth So 3At Vo Su Pr]

  • Rendezvous and un-Rendezvous to assemble 2So At 4Ju

  • [Leaving in Earth Orbit Al Vo 5Su]

  • Burn Soyuz (80 thrust vs m24 × d3) to get Soyuz + Atlas + 4 Juno to Lunar Orbit. VM 15.

  • Rendezvous to separate Soyuz return stage. VM 8.

  • Burn 4 Juno (16 thrust vs m8 × d2) to get Atlas to the Moon. VM 4

  • Rendezvous Atlas with Probe. VM 5

  • Use Probe to gather 9 Lunar Samples. VM 14

  • Rendezvous to separate and abandon Probe. VM 13

  • Burn Atlas (27 thrust vs m13 × d2 = 26) to Lunar Orbit. VM 9

  • Rendezvous to rejoin Soyuz. VM 18

  • Burn Soyuz (80 thrust vs m18 × d3) to Earth Orbit. VM 9

  • Return 9 Lunar Samples to Earth

  • With my remaining ¤50, buy 3 Saturn + 1 Atlas

  • End turn
